Alahmbra Catholic Invitational Tournament-Frostburg, MD
Alahmbra Catholic Invitational Tournament-Frostburg, MD
For anyone interested there is a great Catholic basketball tournament coming up at Frostburg State University. There will be some top notch talent in the field, with a couple nationally ranked teams. Numerous players playing that have already committed to D1 schools. Here is the link to the tournament site: http://www.alhambratournament.com/
I have attended this tournament for about 20 years, got to see to future NBA players like Carmelo Anthony, Danny Ferry, Juan Dixon, Rudy Gay, Kyle Lowry, Donte Green, etc. Admission is only $8 each night for all 4 games.

We have a Catholic Tournament here in Pennsylvania also. It starts today. It's called the PIAA state championship tournament.

That's definitely some serious hoops down there, wish Johnstown still put on the War Memorial tournament.

I got a kick out of that because Philly Catholic league were a part of this tournament until they joined PIAA. They petitioned the PIAA to remain a part of it but was told they couldn't participate in any post season tournaments. Roman Catholic, Neumann Goretti and St. Joes Prep were a few teams that played in it.

I'm sure any of the Catholic teams in PA would want to be a part of it if it were a preseason tournament.

Yeah but it was great because the champs from Baltimore cath. League, DC Catholic, and Philly Cath. we're always in it. Made it interesting to see who had best team.

Here is a list of some of the player who have already committed or signed that will be playing in this tournament:
St. Johns, DC (was Nationally Ranked at one time):
Tre Campbell-Georgetown
James Palmer-Miami, Fla
Darian Anderson-Fairleigh Dickinson
Mike Morsell-Towson
Darian Bryant-George Washington
Mt. St. Joseph:
Phil Booth-Villanova
Jordan McNeil-Towson
Jaylen Adams-Jacksonville
Bishop O'Connell:
Romelo Trimble-Maryland (McDonald's All American)
Benedictine (VA):
Robert Johnson-Indiana
Paul IV (VA):
Jamall Robinson-Hofstra
DeMatha:
No commits at this time, but they have a Soph. Joe Hampton who has been gaining interest by most D1 schools. He played for them as a Fresh., which is pretty rare for a team like them. They also have a couple other underclassmen with D1 offers.
