Not sure about the league at Westmont but the Westmont girls are playing at the Hollidaysburg YMCA.

Girls summer league play well underway on top of the hill too. Windber League & Westmont that just started.

Impressions

North Star looks extremely strong MY TOP PICK
Bishop McCort appears to be strong A GOOD PICK
Windber has talent but unsure of what to expect
Portage will struggle but should be competitive
Conemaugh Valley about the same as last year
Shade will have to work to support their top guard to remain strong
Conemaugh Township - 100% rebuilding year will struggle
Richland they just need consistency in their program will remain poor
Ligonier Valley - so far all I can say is what happened? will struggle
United - they appear to be ok and should compete
Johnstown - they look good very good ANOTHER TOP PICK

Of course it is summer play and sometimes not all of the girls are there but from what I have seen this is how I see it. All subject to change after the first tipoff

Good stuff spin. North Star has been building something good for the last couple years. McCort will be near the top of D6 AA this year.

Down off the mountain it is the usual suspects.
Bellwood looks good.
Hollidaysburg looks better than I expected.
Tyrone the same, Engle is a very good player. I'm not saying Tyrone will win AA but they are better than I expected.
BG shouldn't lose a game.
Bishop Carroll will surprise some.
Heights struggling.
Tussey is good again this year.
Northern Bedford likes to shoot the three and can be dangerous. Claysburg ditto.
JV, Central and PO have small teams with little to no post game.
Penn Cambria will have a nice team.
Altoona has talent, just have to wait and see who is going to be putting it together.

Like you said, it's summer.

I see Bishop Carroll beat BG girls at Hollidaysburg YMCA in a close game. Good for the Huskies.

Spin,

NS will be tough as they have been building.
BM has loaded up on kids and will be strong indefinitely.
Windber will be okay, they return a number of girls.
Portage is still very competitive as they return a lot of veterans, they should compete for a WestPAC title and a top 4 spot in D6A.
Shade plays tough but is very one-dimensional.
Not much good to say about Township or Richland.
LV will compete but still will be middle of the pack in Heritage.
United is scrappy and will compete.
Johnstown returns a lot and will be better, who is coaching the Lady Trojans BTW?

However, tough to get a good feel by watching summer ball, most teams don't have full rosters.

I wish Portage a lot of luck, their strong point is guards. They have looked ok during summer but not over powering. If the young post can develop more that would help, I do like what I am seeing from her this summer.

CT and Richland in the same group now that's is really possible. Over the past three years CT road talent but never developed talent. Richland what can I say coaching will set them back for years. Saw CT looking for a change in coaching maybe they are aware of their problem.

Not in the know for Johnstown but from what I hear it is still open. However I really like what they have there.

Summer is a fun time you get to see what each school does have in the way of skilled players. I really like when I see some coaches not necessarily going for the win but instead giving playing time to others to see if they can make the depth chart.

I can very quickly pick out the players that are doing AAU and some teams are lucky to have several doing so. In fact top teams from last year had a high percentage playing AAU.

Right now it is just summer fun and the only team I can say for sure in D5 that should expect a championship is North Star.

D6 of course BG should also fall into that but there are a few others that can make a run at it. I haven't really seen Westmont and Forest Hills so it is hard to make any pre season fun predictions for them.

However fighting for the bottom rung in D5 will be Rockwood, Salisbury, Shanksville and CT.

For the boys it is easier to pick out the kids who play AAU even more so than the girls. You can tell that they are a whole step ahead of the game and in most cases the competition.

Has anyone been to any boys summer league at the building II?
