Re: Top Week 1 Games
Since 2009 D6 A has been as strong as it has ever been. They have been very competitive against D3, and have won some playoff games. The McCort, Carroll, and Penns Manor groups all were able to win some games. I don't know if Guilfoyle is quite as good as those teams, but I think they will be better than the Homer Center team that represented D6 last year, and the Bellwood team the year before that. BG (on paper) really has a good group coming together this year, I think they have a run in them. Not sure what Steel High has out of D3.
As far as the WPIAL goes, Clairton and North Catholic are very good. Outside of those two, BG would be on par with everyone else.

Bellwood won their first state game the year they came out of D6 too
Re: Top Week 1 Games
I hope bg does win it. I like local teams to win it all. Good luck to them this upcoming year. I always root for the locals. They have a good group of athletes there.

Crimson: Not to interrupt this discussion, but the reply for my wedding invitation isn't due till NEXT Friday. And does mass on a Friday morning count for Saturday evening/Sunday? The Catholic Church states that Catholics have an obligation to attend mass EVERY Sunday, which now includes Saturday evenings. And in the past, did BM players attend team mass BEFORE school on Friday morning, EVEN with a game on Friday night? Isn't that a little early to get up on game day?.

Mass on a Friday would not count towards a Sunday mass. I'm not sure, I don't think the church aspect affected play too much. Weekday masses typically don't run as long as a Sunday mass, so they weren't up unusually early or anything like that.
If I were you, I'd pick the wedding. But then again, Forest Hills should handle BMCHS, so a Forest Hills fan might enjoy that.

I'm surprised you didn't know that Catholics are to attend mass on Sundays (Saturdays are now acceptable) and on Holy Days of obligation. Hope Davitch encourages his players to do so, even the non-Catholics. And if I don't attend the FH/BM game, I'll read about it in the Sunday paper, after I come home from church.

Well if you make it to the wedding, maybe you can say a little prayer for the Rangers.

The word out of the summer workouts, passing competitions and other drills is B-A is down this year.
Expect 2-3 losses from their schedule. Looking at Tyrone & Mt Union with possibly Northern Bedford.
Word on the street is the Blue Devils another year awayfrom a D-6 run. Coming from the Monday
morning QB's is BG will be the team from Blair County.

What's my ONE little prayer gonna do, when hundreds of BM fans will be praying at Saturday masses before the game?

I still think Sunday is more popular than Saturday night. You might be OK.
