Penn State at Michigan Open Game Thread
Re: Penn State at Michigan Open Game Thread
Penn State started the year with 62 players on scholarship. They were able to add some due to sanction reductions but not very many scholarship deserving players. Michigan has 85 scholarship players. Penn State had no business only losing to Michigan in the Big House by 5. Those that can be realistic with the PSU program have to be happy that Penn State is 4-2 clinging to a top 10 recruiting class and possibly (although more difficult than most people realize) could play in a bowl game this year.
I hope Penn State can get to 6 wins but they are not good enough to horrifically mismanage the game clock, have senior captains playing safety try to intercept passes on their hip, and turn the ball over in opposing field goal range in the 2nd half.
I still think Penn State can get 2 of the 3 against Indiana, Illinois, or Temple. They have no chance against Ohio State or Michigan State. Maryland would be an upset but not out of the question.
If I'm a Michigan fan and that is the effort it took to beat a team with basically 25% less scholarship players, one of the youngest rosters in the country, while at home, in primetime, with a senior quarterback. I'm really nervous.

Kirk, I watched the entire UCF game since I was up early that day, and my roommate is a PSU guy so I watched the Rutgers game too. Hack has had some great moments and throws, but made some mistakes. I'm aware the line is bad, the backs are mediocre ect. Maybe O'Brien wouldn't be doing any better.
Abpk, Michigan fans aren't nervous at all. Being there, they were beyond desperate for anything positive. Penn State has less scholarship players and they are down big time but they aren't totally inept either, UM fans needed that.
