College Football Week Nine Open Thread
Top 10 games of the weekend
10. BYU at Boise State Friday 9:00 ESPN
Two good non-power five teams. Nice little Friday night appetizer.
9. 14 Arizona State at Washington Saturday 10:45 ESPN
Good late night action. I love UW's stadium.
8. Miami at Virginia Tech Thursday 8:00 ESPN
Not the greatest game, but both teams need a win. Plus I like Lane Stadium
7. Oregon State at Stanford Saturday 3:30 ESPN2
Slow week, but Stanford.
6. Michigan at Michigan State
Good Rivalry game, can the Wolverines carry some momentum over to this week? I doubt it.
5. South Carolina at 5 Auburn Saturday 7:30 SEC
Could South Carolina give them a game, or are they really this overrated?
4. 22 WVU at Oklahoma State 3:30 ESPN
Dana returns to Stillwater. Could be a shootout.
3. 1. Mississippi State at Kentucky 3:30 CBS
It's MSU's first game ranked as #1, and it's on the road. Could be tough actually.
2. 20 USC at 19 Utah Saturday 10:00 FS1
Big time Pac 12 South game.
1. 3. Ole Miss at 24 LSU Saturday 7:15 ESPN
We'll see what Ole Miss is all about, hard to win under the lights of Baton Rouge

Well, Virginia Tech really is that bad. Yikes, I can't remember them getting outclassed that much at Lane Stadium ever. You have to wonder when the whispers about Frank Beamer come into question. He's 68 years old, and he's had no fewer than 3 losses a year since 2005. Va Tech sits in a great recruiting area, they have a passionate fan base, and they play in a division they could dominate. Since 2005 they have managed 4 BCS Bowls though with multiple losses each time. The Va Tech program usually gets more respect than they actually deserve in my opinion, but that's because Beamer is a well respected guy in general.
This season could bring everything to a head, though. Mack Brown had 21 losses in his final 4 years at Texas, Beamer is up to 18 with the past three years and this season combined.

Me too, that Arizona State coach is a man of integrity. I can't wait to watch him coach.
