The P.I.A.A. usually decides these play-off settings with the P.I.A.A. Steering Committee & each A.D. from the two schools that will play each other. & I'm thinking that Dist.# 5 Chairman must have O.K'd it there ??? I remember Windber Area h.S. playing Clariton at Johnstown H.S. few years back... They too, had to fight for that turf approval...

What are you talking about.
ridethepine wrote:I found out WHY ??? Clairton has been making the 70 & 80 point scores that they have been making almost all year ??? They are down to a 17 man roster. Between a few injuries & just not enough kids out for football. They have to play the starters almost the whole game. There is no-one else that they can replace the starters with? It's either them (or) nothing ? At their daily practices in Clairton. They don't even have enough to scrimmage each other daily !!! So! they mostly play 7 on 7....
What an ODD situation to have & be in ?

Yes! they dressed them.. but a lot still couldn't play... Today is / was a special day for them... No one wants to not wear pads on the W.P.I.A.L. Finals... When is the last time your team only dressed 26 kids & made it too the dist. # Finals ? Still pretty impressive...

They had more than 17 people get into the game.

The game next week should be held at Somerset, it was two years ago and last year it was in Pittsburgh. Unfortunate break for district 5 who will be big underdogs as it is.

My memory may not be serving me correctly, but do I remember the Clairton coach making some type of comment of never returning to Somerset County to play again? I might be wrong on this. May have been a topic on here two years ago? Or hearsay? Something along these lines seems to be in my mind. There is supposed to be a district host rotation.

This begins another 2-year rotation of swapping sites...

2014 D7....next year back to D5

2012 Somerset 2013 Hampton

2010 Somerset 2011 Yough

2008 Johnstown 2009 Yough

2006 Berlin 2007 Yough

2004 Johnstown 2005 East Allegheny

I was at the game with Berlin and Clairton. I wanted to see Tyler Boyd play in person. I remember there was quite a bit of yelling back and forth from the fans when the one kid from Clairton got hurt. Maybe he said something afterwards.

and after going to the Clairton facebook page there are some comments on the picture of the Berlin helmet about what happened. I didn't witness any cheap shots from Berlin that night as I recall.
