I am just going to say thank you lady Mustangs for giving us one of the most exciting games of the year lost by three in double over time 45 to 42. Blairsville was crushed. I feel bad for the Lady Mustangs but who could not be proud of the season they had.

Spin: Yes the Mustangs lost in double overtime. Must have been a great game. And congratulations to them for a great season. But your "Blairsville was crushed" comment means what.?
What is your point? Because if your saying that the Portage girls played a much better game than Blairsville then your board name really does describe you.

Hey don't read anything into the mix that isn't there. I was not someone that thought Portage would have a great year. Those young ladies through it in my face and where out standing. When I am wrong I am wrong and they were amazing tonight. Everyone told me Blairsville had an extremely good team. They did but did not play their best game. Thus they lost big. If Portage would have advanced how could I not BELIEVE in them. Anything can happen in a championsip game. I expect Blairsville to make it deep and they too had a great season. So other than this what are your fishing up the wrong creek.

Both D6 teams lost but 2/4 in the state is not bad. Blairsville was only down by 8 at the half and Portage was up by 19 at one point I think I saw. Both schools should be proud! Now the work in the offseason begins to get back there begins!

Problem with Blairsville is the coach never subbed, and so besides a couple of freshmen who played he has no experience.

And yet D6 will be stronger next year in single-A as Portage, BG, BC and JV return a majority of their starters and figure to improve.

Congratulations to Blairsville and Portage for making the semi-finals.

Good Luck with it.....Maybe some teams from D5 and D6 can catch a break against D7 teams...That's Life. Good Luck Lady Mustangs.
Actually, when Northern Cambria went to the eastern side of the bracket several years ago (the year they lost to BG in the d6 finals in overtime and then in the state finals), the eastern side had Tri Valley and Steel High. NC barely squeaked past TV in the state semis after beating a top 5-6 state team in Marian Catholic in the quarters. I don't remember the exact situation all the years but in Single A, I am pretty sure Steel High and Tri-Valley won the title 3 years in a row (first two Steel High and then the last Tri-Valley). That might have been 11, 12, and 13 but again they blend together for me. The year before, NC barely squeaked by Tri-Valley and was the favorite to make the finals but was upset by a quality Benton squad. Before that Marian Catholic was a perennial power who had many battles with BG.

The east has many large schools so the depth of their single A classification has always been limited but powers like Marian Catholic, Steel High, and Tri-Valley more than made up for it, for while a weaker team could advance a little bit, you knew they weren't going to get past them. Things go in cycles though and it appears some of those "powers" fizzled out. Maybe in the next cycle d6#1 will be on the east side because I can't imagine the state final in Single A between Vincentian and Old Forge will be pretty... but you do never know!
