WPIAL Combine

Post by TAHS92Alum »

Was just told about the WPIAL Combine at Greentree this weekend. I know it is being run by 247 sports. Anyone have further details?

yes, it is not being run by 247 sports. It's being run by a person who also happens to write for Panther247. On twitter he goes by WPIAL_insider. no website to reference. it is also in no way affiliated with the WPIAL.

most people don't understand how these things work...#1. NO D1 coaches may attend per NCAA rules...#2. After talking with many DII and DIII schools even THEY don't attend them so if they say "colleges will attend" they're basically hoping someone does. #3. In MY opinion very few combines are worth paying for. Go to the free Nike clinics and such....attend college camps/combines...I've talked to many who even say they receive gobs of tapes that they just don't have time to look at from combines.
One example of a good camp with a combine would be the CPFCA camp being held on May 19 I believe. http://www.scasd.org/cms/lib5/PA0100000 ... on2015.pdf

A lot of those who go to these are players who's parents think they're the "next big thing" and end up being a walk on at best, if that.

you're right about that. I'm in the beginning stages of doing a several part series on camps/combines/7v7s for our sites. Parents need educated about the subject.

Bill... your right the Bald Eagle combine is a good one for the local kids. I just heard the rumor on the Greentree camp and wanted to see what people knew or heard. CPFCA is $10 and the kids get a shirt.

Also when have known a parent not to think they have the next NFL great...

Personally if youre looking for colleges, send game tape and do some visits that works if the talent is there.
