If BA plays smart ball they will be fine. MU hit Shirk fine. He only had 2 strike outs. Every hit always seemed to go to someone. Couldn't hit the gaps. They stranded either 7 or 9 runners though. That hurts along with the one wide throw that scored 2 for richland. I see BA winning this one.

Before the playoffs started, almost everyone had Central going to states. That's why they play out the games.

Leunsmann is a very good pitcher Richland will have their hands full. I personally wasn't impressed his fastball is straight, curve is average. The 4 hits PC got were all frozen rope line drive hits. 3 singles 1 by a senior INF to deep SS, 1 by a freshman and 1 by a sophomore up the middle. The double was by a sophomore ripped to the right center field gap on the line. He's not invincible. You have to play the game anything can happen..

lgb87cape - agree that he is not invincible but he and the team behind him is consistent and play solid. He limits your opportunities, so when you get them, you have to take advantage. 4 hits, even with a ringing double is something other teams have accomplished as well. JV is a good offensive team, and while he didn't manhandle them he managed to limit their hitting and running. Also make note he does not give free passes and that is a critical element. Not sure about your assessment on the heat and breaking stuff, when he pitched against JV, it was pretty good stuff and movement. The team behind him isn't bad by any stretch either, they play good solid D, and when he is on the mound, they also manage to score enough runs while he is limiting runs. It will take a complete team effort for Richland to beat BA, but certainly is do-able.

The bigger key is, can Richland's pitcher(s) keep BA from scoring.

Luensmann is probably going to pitch a shutout, or give up limited runs.

For Richland to win, their pitching will likely have to toss a shut out or maybe give up just 1 or 2 runs and their defense will have to be flawless.

That will mean a low scoring game where Richland scratches out a run or two or three.

But, hey, this is HS baseball. Any young pitcher can let the pressure of playing in a minor league stadium get to him and become Steve Blass for the evening.

Games aren't played on paper or in measureable stats or a player's talent, they're played between the lines. Luensmann is outstanding and there is no denying his measureables, stats, and talent deserve the hype.

Regardless of this, the game won't be cancelled and the trophy won't just be handed to BA because of the well deserved hype of Luensmann. The game will still be played at 7pm Tuesday.
