Re: Stadium Names
Not true. Not a lot of numbers on their roster again this year. 2/3 are freshmen and sophomores.Eaglealum wrote:St Joes did away with football from what I heard, hearsay though not positive
Re: Stadium Names
Again, not true. They will forfeit the game to PM. The Comets will still get their 100 points and won't even have to travel to Altoona for it. D6 is not "looking into" anything regarding this. Saint Joseph's is essentially a JV team at this point.Blueandwhitefan wrote:St. Joe's notified Penns Manor in April they WOULD NOT be honoring the 2 year contract do to the differences in the strengths of the programs. The last I heard was that they WERE going to play, Purchase Line, United, and Marion Center. What a crock!!! District 6 was looking into it but I haven't heard the outcome.

OK, Why the forfeit? Are they going to forfeit the other heritage games? There was a thread on here awhile back that PM was being set up with a Charter school out of Philly.

Re: Stadium Names
Penns Manor would benefit more from playing a good team in all this , rather than playing a JV from St Joe's or getting a bye. Penns Manor will have enough big blowouts as it is, another challenge would help them.

Re: Stadium Names
I agree. But getting blown out and minus 100 points could mean the difference in a home playoff game and playing on the road. I thought a few years ago D6 said no more bye's. You must play 10 games. And it still doesn't explain why they are going to forfeit PM but play the other heritage teams.Crimson's Ghost wrote:Penns Manor would benefit more from playing a good team in all this , rather than playing a JV from St Joe's or getting a bye. Also, rumor has it the heritage is working on a plan with a D9 conference? Keystone-Shortway I believe. They already play Keystone. This would save them constantly looking for teams to fill the schedule and playing the same team twice. As some teams last season. Anyone else hear this?

Re: Stadium Names
it is my understanding that St. Joes has entered into a co-op with Grace Prep and will be playing all games this year, including Penns Manor. The co op was approved at the June District 6 meeting. Yes Blueandwhite Fan, it is my understanding that next year the Heritage Conference and District 9, Keystone Shortway Confrence will be partnering up and will play each other on corresponding open weeks during the 2016 football season. It also is reported that the Heritage and the West Pac are working on an agreement for week 10.
The argument for Penns Manor playing a better opponent is a good one. Playing a quality opponent is obviously better, essentially gearing you up for the playoffs. However, it can be said that the Laurel Highlands Conference should schedule someone better than Bishop Carroll, who I think is in the same situation as St. Joes. I heard BC's numbers is in the low 20's.

Re: Stadium Names
I agree that with Penns Manor having a stronger team this year, it would be more beneficial for them to play a tougher team. This would allow them to learn more about themselves (Strengths/Weaknesses they might have and things they need to work on). In the same argument I do not believe it would be fair for St. Joe's with a weak team to be able to pick and choose who they are playing. It would mess up Pm's schedule, possibly cost them points and they could have injuries that could plague them for the rest of the season. If D6 is knowingly having an issue with each team being 1-2 games short and they are forcing each team to play 10 games, they need to step up and fix the problem themselves. This is a perfect example of what is going to continue to happen if the problem is not fixed. Teams should not be responsible for going out and looking for games. They end up getting into contracts that other teams constantly break which then leaves them scrambling to pick someone up who they can compete with. D6 could also get rid of a lot of these problems by going back to the old playoff system and letting more teams in. This gives more teams playoff experience and rewards the top teams by giving them a week off.
