Roberts National Champ

Post by Stonycreek »

Nick Roberts won the DII 133 lb National Championship this weekend for UPJ. Tyler Reinhart won the 165 lb Championship, Travis McKillop took 2nd at 184 behind undefeated 4x Champ Joey Davis of Notre Dame, and Sam Hanau was the fourth All American, placing 6th at 141 lbs. UPJ finished in 4th place for the team Championship. Congratulations gentleman!

Ditto that. Enjoyed watching Roberts several matches this year. Reinhart probably over achieved, but great for him. I'd like to know how a small school gets a talent like Davis, who goes undefeated for 4 years? That's Cael-like. We may never see it again.

I read in today's local paper, Nick Roberts was injured against W. Liberty. Anyone have any details, like how serious, how long he may be out, who's pinch-hitting for him right now? If for any length of time, it would be a setback for UPJ, even though they seem fairly stacked this season.

This almost-2 week old question was answered in today's T-D by Knop. Really too bad.

Sorry to hear the news. Praying Nick can make it back this year but if not it seems like he is in a good place right now and I am happy for him. He is probably one of the best if not the best wrestler to come out of D5.
