If Wheeler does leave, I'd be willing to bet John Franco would be the first applicant. It's so weird that he's an assistant coach at Saint Joseph's in Boalsburg.

I'm pretty sure the city of Altoona's population is less than 50,000, unless you are counting all of Blair County or something.

The Saint Joseph's thing for Franco I heard is a temporary thing. He took it because he is really good friends with Steve Guthoff. So I will be anxious to see where he ultimately ends up, but I know they both won't be at St. Joseph's for very long.

I've heard in the rumor mill they are both heading back to Tyrone as assistants. But who knows. Lol

Ben McAdoo is now 39, and while the route that he took from Homer Center and then Indiana High School looks attractive, it included many stops: Michigan State, Fairfield, Pitt, Saints, 49ers, Packers, and then the Giants. He is married to a woman originally from Homer City, and they have two children. They have no doubt made many moves.

Wheeler graduated from Penn Cambria in 1991, which would make him about mid-40s. He has lived in the same area for most of his married life and has worked as a teacher or admin at PC during that time. His family has roots in the area, and he is not about to uproot them. His wife's family has businesses in Cresson, and she at one time worked in the dance business with her mother. Not sure about now.

So, in reality, he is not about to sell the farm and move to Ithaca, N.Y. or some other outpost. He could take another high school job or go to an area college like some other former coaches have done at places like IUP, Juniata, St. Francis, and similar schools. That would not be surprising.

Would not be surprised to see him try to join Chris Villarrial at SF some day.

Who said anything about Ithaca College. We're talking about going straight to South Bend. Once they won again in Hershey and with Kelly looking to leave, it just makes sense.
