I think the Lewis girl from Central is still there.
Re: Friday Scoreboard 3/3/17
See that's the thing with the exception of Riley Lewis I'm almost 100% certain that everyone currently on both of the BG basketball teams lives in the Altoona school district. And if people want to make a big deal about Riley being from another school district then they must also make a fuss about Macy adams who lives in Altoona but plays for Penn Cambriadadw/2sons wrote:I think the Lewis girl from Central is still there.

I saw Adams play last yr. for BGU. I saw her play this yr. for PC. CLEARLY, not the same player. Very unfortunate she was hurt. Maybe told @ BGU she would sit the bench? Play with whoever would have her?

I think its safe to say the U of BG girl's basketball program has had more players come from other schools than Penn Cambria has had come into their program over the last decade. Yes, there is an exception to the rule here and there from public schools. We also don't agree with it and wish it wouldn't happen either. However the private/charter schools consistently reap the benefits of a flawed system and that's why there will always be more fuss made.lhacfan63 wrote:See that's the thing with the exception of Riley Lewis I'm almost 100% certain that everyone currently on both of the BG basketball teams lives in the Altoona school district. I'm not sure how you want Manfred to word it any more nicely. He said it was unfortunate that an injury could cause it. I'll try to put it nicely. The numbers would indicate more production out of the player as a freshman at BG than what Penn Cambria got out of the player as a senior.

why the fascination with the lewis girl who isn't even on the team? Let it go man
Re: Friday Scoreboard 3/3/17
Oh Thats right my bad I had forgotten that lewis was no longer on the team and i had also forgotten about audley. But still lewis not being on the team furthers my point while she is no longer on the team she still goes to BG which knocks out the going to school for athletics argument. And on the subject of Adams it is a real shame that she left BG but coach moschella pretty much forced her into leaving. So any good players have quit the program over the last few years because of him. Players get so frustrated with him because he tells them to give the ball to benzel and just hopes she can win the gameHoopfan wrote:why the fascination with the lewis girl who isn't even on the team? RECRUITING CONFUSION
Just to clear things up on here, Laura was 1st asked to attend a high school in North Carolina by a family there. After they told Laura she could come to school and live with them in North Carolina, they changed there mind and turned her down. She was upset for weeks/months. Imagine a 15 year old girl being told that she is going to live in America (which was a dream of hers), then all of a sudden someone telling her they didn't want her anymore. Laura then decided to get her name in the AFS (foreign exchange program). She was never recruited by any Williamsburg boosters or supporters. A family near the school was given 2 names from the exchange student list. They picked 1 of the girls and did not know anything about them other than where they were from and some small details and interests. Both girls listed basketball as a hobby.
I understand how there may be some confusion with her article in the newspaper, but please remember that the interview was a 16 year old girl doing her 1st interview in English after a tough basketball game. She was excited and nervous at the same time. And mostly spoke what came to her mind that she could understand (translating from English to Hungarian very quickly).
Any questions, feel free to respond back or email [email protected] for more information. Thank you.

Re: Friday Scoreboard 3/3/17
I saw Wayne Wade got 4 games for his comments about the refs in the state championship game against BG. With that being said, does anyone think the coach from Bellwood will get anything for his comments being critical of the refs in this D6 title game? "It's very frustrating. I think two of the three officials just didn't raise to the level of play that was happening....But there were numerous occasions where the officials just didnt have eye contact with each other. Thats frustrating that a game could be decided that way".Joe Bivitz wrote:The ref that had the action right in front of him under the basket signaled a deflection, and possession to McCort. The ref that called the foul came running in from half court. The same ref was whistle happy all night. Made more than a few calls that "weren't his call". I believe on 2 separate occasions, he called a foul simultaneously with one of the other refs had a jump ball. It was a great game that you hate to see either team have to lose. But there was just as much, if not more contact on Thomas' block of Swogger with :10 left. If you're going to let them play at one end, has to be the same as the other end. Thought the Altoona Mirror did a good job of painting a picture of the last few sequences. Not so much by the Johnstown paper. I understand they are both covering their hometown team and are going to spin it how they see fit. But I think Thomas' quote says a lot.....she said "they CALLED a foul". She didn't say she GOT fouled, she said the CALLED a foul. Great game with some outstanding talent on the court. Good luck to both teams and maybe we'll get to see a Round 3
Does it deserve some attention for D6? I always try to steer my kids away from blaming the officials and publicly doing this is not that. I also thought it was alarming that the altoona mirror called officials by name in the paper when blaming a supposedly poor call. I think there was bad judgment used in many cases of public comment here.
