HS Mega Conferences
Tell me this wouldn't be awesome.
LHAC
Division A- Richland, Westmont, Johnstown, Somerset, McCort, Forest Hills, Central Cambria
Division B- Penn Cambria, BG, Bedford, Chestnut Ridge, Central, Tyrone, PO
Division C- Huntingdon, Hollidaysburg, Bellefonte, Penns Valley, Clearfield, Bald Eagle
7 teams per conference. Teams play the other 6. Then they have 4 other games that come from the other two sections.
Someone would have to play out of conference every week or you work to add more teams. Just thought this might be an interesting topic.

Re: HS Mega Conferences
You know what would be even more awesome than a Friday night road trip from Richland to Huntingdon?
If all those schools joined the WPIAL! Then Richland could travel to West Greene or Quaker Valley.

Re: HS Mega Conferences
Richland probably wouldn't be in a section with either of those schools.

Re: HS Mega Conferences
The idea of seeing more teams makes it fun on a Friday.
In my scenario this could potentially be Richland's schedule

How is that more fun than playing Penn Cambria, Chestnut Ridge and Bedford?

Re: HS Mega Conferences
Because the next year it might have those teams. Do you enjoy seeing the same teams every single year?
Re: HS Mega Conferences
I don't really care if we're playing Shade or Claysburg-Kimmel. So we might as well play the teams next door.
Re: HS Mega Conferences
I miss those FH-Portage season openers. Most years would even be mutually competitive.
It ain't over until it's over.

Re: HS Mega Conferences
How about we just make mini conferences throughout the state instead of big districts.
6 teams all from the same class in conference. 5 in conference games and 5 out of conference games.
Two ways to qualify for playoffs. 1. Win your conference 2. Have best out of conference record.

Re: HS Mega Conferences
I think this would work with the ICC/Westpac too.
I love the idea. Kongo, the reason you do something like this is today’s world of HS football. A big conference ensures you have opponents and teams. What if Ferndale, CV, Shade can’t keep football? Numbers are down everywhere and some schools are struggling to play games. Big conferences are essentially groups working together to help each other with scheduling.
