ESPN reports Penn State is looking to join the PSAC in 2021!

Yeah Berlin is likely in for it's dip. Without Rockwood's co-op Berlin would be an A team. So they add maybe 8 kids to jump up a classification. It hasn't been that Berlin's been a great team the last four years... it's just that everyone else has been pretty bad. The last year they were a really good team was 2015 when they beat Clairton and nearly beat Farrell. And BG would have stomped them. Berlin stays in the WestPac, it's where they belong. Windber and Portage dominated for years while the rest sucked. Meyersdale and Northstar have had a few really good years. As you know with small schools it usually goes in cycles and it seems Berlin's great run is done for a bit.

I just wonder how many more years of football some of these WestPAC teams have left.

McCort's combined Junior High team (7th and 8th grade) went 0-8 this season. They scored one touchdown all season. Unless there's a great group of kids hanging around in 5th or 6th grade at Divine Mercy, I think you're looking at the LHAC nudging out the Crushers like it did to Bishop Carroll.

It wasn't so much that BC was losing, but they were having trouble fielding a team with enough players. Is player attendance down at BM?

The numbers game has easily been remedied at BMCHS in the past. EVERYONE knows how they play "the game". Different rules than most other schools.

I think it will start to be. In the 2016 PIAA Classification cycle McCort was listed with 141 boys enrolled and played AA. McCort fell to A after that with a reported enrollment 111. In the most recent cycle, McCort has 98 boys still in A.
141 in 2016 to 98 in 2020 is probably one of the most significant declines in the entire state, if not the largest decline. So I just don't really see it going up anytime soon.
At the current trend, McCort is going to be Bishop Carroll in a year or two, and we saw what the LHAC did to Bishop Carroll's football program.

Realistically, McCort and BC should co-op their football programs.

Yeah. Sure. Thats why the Bassetts are now at BMCHS, and are taking the lions share of a definite state championship wrestling team with them. For the religious experience.Crimson's Ghost wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 8:50 amSee I always thought that was a Forest Hills thing.

And still play A ball and be a powerhouse in no time at all. Seems about right.
