It would hurt a sport with problems already gaining support.

Here is the only possible way that riding time is going to work out in high school, at least in this area: The officials HAVE TO CALL STALL CALLS! Go to any dual meet or tournament and you will see matches where the bottom man will just lay there or the top man will ride with a tight waist the whole time. The referees have to take it upon themselves to make this kids wrestle. The kids know that they are going to get away with it so they figure why give up getting a little breather just laying there and acting like you are doing something. If the kids were forced to wrestle riding time would be a great idea b/c then it would actually prove the worth of being able to ride out your opponent. If you can ride your opponent for a full two minutes and have solid action your full two minutes then you deserve the point. And when referees do call stalling it's usually too late. Ex.-Ryan Walkl wrestled for tyrone a couple years ago and he was in a match that went into overtime ride out. In this period Ryan got called for STALLING b/c he was trying to ride his opponent out. If you are going to name the period overtime RIDEOUT then stalling should not be allowed to be called
