Another shot to the Colorado football program
I read an article on ESPN's website that Katie Hnida, a former kicker for Colorado, is now attempting to press rape charges on a teammate when she was at Colorado U. She said in an interview to Sports Illustrated that she was at a then teammates house and that's where the incident occurred. I don't know if anyone remembers, but she was the first woman athlete to compete in D-1A football when she attempted an extra point for New Mexico in I think 2002. She transfered to New Mexico after the incident with the teammate to aid in her emotional recovery. What are some opinions on the downspiral that this program is going through ?? The way things are shaping up, they may be in some major trouble after this all gets settled out, not to mention that the program will be permanently scarred and tarnished. Any thoughts, opinions ??

Roadie,
I think this is all a bunch of BS because every D-I football school shows recruits the best things (women, alcohol, and clubs). It happens everywhere and Colorado just was caught by someone in my opinion trying to get them in trouble!! The female kicker is just mad she was not good and making things up just to get back at the program which is BS because she was terrible and the coach gave her a chance as well. Coach Barnett is a great coach and Colorado football doesn't need this BS and should be let alone in my opinion. My whole thing is that everyone in America does this type of thing!!

The comment made by Coach Barnett was out of line. He said that she was a girl and that she was terrible at football. If she was that bad how was she on his team? He is just getting himself in more trouble by saying something stupid like that.

The coach would know if she was terrible to D-I standards!! He can say what he wants because she was not on the team very long but had to give her a chance due to gender equity. She was then cut after the season was over

Yeah, he can say what he wants. But I believe a few more words from him and he'll be looking for a new job.

You could be right but you have to be in the shoes of Coach Barnett because of all this stuff coming about of his program that everyone in the country does to lure recruits and he can't be with the recruits or his players all day and night long! These are suppose to be responsible adults that we are dealing with in D-I athletes which isn't always the case but they can drink and have fun like anyone else. Right??

They can...IF they are 21 and everyone else that is taking part is 21.

You are right Hollywood. I just didn't like how he handled the situation about the girl. I just thought what he said was out of line. But I'm sure with everything going on in his program and his job being on the line now, I guess he said it out of frustration and is somewhat understandable. I still believe he should be suspended for what he said.

uh oh...Press conference at 10 PM Colorado time and midnight Eastern Time.
I'm thinkin Mr. Barnett may have lost his job. What he said was out of line because he should have been focusing on the sexual assault and NOT her football skills.
That school president looked MAD!

If that is true and he is getting fired, what a dang shame that is!!He is a great man and a great coach. Colorado's loss and someone will get him and he will do great things with the new team he goes to.
