Big East Football

Post by tubmill »

All you Big East haters will have to go back to the drawing board. Most of you felt positive that the new BE would lose their BCS status after the end of the 2006 current contract. The BCS conferences met for six hours in Florida on Sunday and have decided that the Big East will remain one of the six automatic qualifiers even after 2006. In addition, they are adding a fifth bowl to give the midmajors access. Here are some links regarding this news:

this is probably why they added the fifth game whether it is admitted or not. that makes them ALL happy.

The fifth game was added for the conferences that don't automatically qualify. I am sure it does make those conferences happy and it should. What right does a select few have to tell all the rest they can't have a chance for the national title. Penn State started the conference fiasco because they were looking out for themselves. Forget about the word collegiality...PSU was greedy. It turns out their greediness may have been the best thing for everybody!

the bcs is BS and everybody knows it. in a few years, the bcs's contract is gonna run out and i dont see how it will be renew w/ all the contreversy that has come from it. the playoff system will eventually prevail in ncaa football.

i dont think that psu or pitt need to worry much about the bcs considering that netheir has played in a bcs game or will next year.

do you really think that the fifth bowl is about helping smaller conference teams get a bcs bid? please, its all about the money, it always has been an always will be.

packerfan,
The big boys knew that they would be facing an antitrust lawsuit by the little guys. They had to bring a 5th bowl into the mix to satisfy the midmajors.
