the pract thing at colleges is wat a high school wrestler chooses to do on his own time.....its not like hey we are recruiting u get ur butt over here and work out ...if u want to work out then u can...u cant even officially be talked to or contacted by a college until ur junior year of high school.....and the kolat thing wats the comparison hurt....i personally think scott is past kolat at this stage(sophomore years).....i mean scott set a goal not to be scored upon at all and was only matches away from doing it....scott will be more successful in his post high school career in my view too and a better role model

Everyone thinks Cary Kolat is a bad role model...I only hope my child has a role model with the credintials that Mr Kolat has.....

Kolat is simply amazing, so Is Garrett. If he keeps his mind to it, he could be a Kolat or maybe even better.

Anyway, Kolat can't sing to save his life. (did anyone watch that cubs game)

Wow, if I am not mistaken, Cary Kolat was found drunk in a ditch at Penn State. During his time there, I heard that he caused quite a few ruckusses. Rumor had it that he was kicked out. I can't guarantee truth in any of these things, but I'm almost certain about the first statement. This certainly isn't a role model in my mind. He may have been the greatest wrestler to come out of PA, but he was not the greatest man. Hopefully working with Rocky Bonomo, a man of faith, has straightened him out.

Yea...down the road if the time ever comes for me to have kids I would be proud if they looked up to Kolat's accomplishments. They are amazing. But what he has done on the mat doesn't make up for the other things that he is done. Those are the things that make someone a true role model.

Now if we only had Kolat on here to argue, this topic could get as hot and off topic as "Can anyone guard Troy Harris" with Nastasi.

But really, you are exactly right SWAT. A role model is not someone who dominates the playing field. A role model is someone who presents himself like a man on and off the field, no matter what time of day or night, and no matter who is around. The role model for my 'kids to be' will be the man who stands lower on the podium, but still has the graciousness to shake the hand of the winner, and then give the glory to God for what he has accomplished. That is a man that I will tell me kid to strive to be like. And better yet, strive to be like the man who hung on the cross and died for you.
