Chestnut Ridge Lion Football
Re: Chestnut Ridge Lion Football
I too would have to think that a guy like Dave Baker is a big part of that coaching staff's success. He alone has added and will add wins that they otherwise wouldn't have gotten.
Re: Chestnut Ridge Lion Football
Great reply Goodwill. I was obviously correct about you.

What face at stonehenge? Do you mean Mt. Rushmore? Why can't you just give an honest respone? Why all the hate for CR and coach Wilkins?

Re: Chestnut Ridge Lion Football
I was there at that game last year and saw the unfortunate two point play that failed to win the game. Ridge has some great players and great athletes, and I think they will be even better this year. I will not go against the call to go for two points. It was definately the right choice. The kicker, who was normally a big part of the team's success throughout the season, was having a bad night. He missed one or two field goal attempts and two extra points. One of those was blocked. So the two point call was definately the right choice. I was just peeved that they tried to run a sweep. Maybe they thought running it up the middle would have been too obvious, but in those types of situations, you have to work to your strengths, and Halbig and Barefoot running the ball was definately the strength of the football team.
They did lose a few good players coming into this season, but I think that they'll have more than enough talent to make up for it. The main loss in the skill position was Jason Foltin at tight end. Whenever he got the ball, he was a force to be reckoned with. It wasn't his blazing speed that gave him yards after the catch so much as his strength and ability to break tackles. Joe Utz and Mike Schade weren't great wide outs, and I think that Dan Novak and perhaps Josh Utz or Colby Mock, will be able to fill in there without a proble. Fred Halbig will keep pounding out the ball, and maybe Colby will get a few touches as well. Lineman wise, they loset a few of those, but they still have quite a few good ones around. I think perhaps they could go undefeated. Beating Guifoyle, which they have never done, is going to be a big boost.

Goodwill. What a great name. Sarcastic, huh? Anything but,,,
I personally feel the Lions miss Larson the most. There were some games he gave a clinic in offensive line blocking. But in a game or so somebody will start playing to his level. In fact, Brock H. is pretty close.
Every Coach needs a mentor -- an older, experienced guy like Dave Baker. It's to Dan's credit that he brought him aboard. Everybody benefits.
This choking nonsense is getting old. It's a no-lose situation for you, isn't it Goodwill? Any mistake made by the coaching staff will be under a microscope and all you can say is "I told you so?"
Well, you know, people who truly love sports can appreciate personal growth. Dan's got a good coaching staff from 7th to 12th and he's got a great group of guys who make these coaches, unless I'm mistaken, glad to hit the practice field each night along with their players.
And a lot of fans glad to go to their games.

Who does CR play this week?
Props to Foghorn for calling Goodwill out.
Experience in whatever a person does in life is imperative. I am confident that whatever our chosen vocations are were started by a rash of practical learning experiences. And there was someone who beleived in us and supported us through that time.
