Spurrier going to SC a good idea?

I dont think Spurrier goin to SC is going to do anything. I doubt he will make thr program any better with all the other good schools that they play overpowering them...what do you guys think

They might not win a national championship, but they'll win the SEC at least once. I don't see Spurrier coaching for 20 years, either. That team has a lot of talent on it already, and he'll get them in shape to win.

Spurrier looks young, but coaching 20 years puts him at 80! I doubt Spurrier is coaching at Joe's age.

I think it is GREAT move. I don't think the SC prospects will be leaving now, and they have plenty of speed, etc there. He can also recruit all of the south, but can tell guys they can get out of the whole Florida scene where there are 3 great programs and now that South Florida is in a BCS conference it will only get better. Tennessee, Virginia, NC, Georgia...they'll have players come to SC now that never went there.

I think in 2 years he'll have them into a top 25 school. I love how he came back to a team in the same conference as Florida. That will make for some very interesting games.

Old Ball Coach walking the sidelines and throwing the visor

South Carolina already plays like a top 25 team. Does anyone remember that Georgia game? Now yes, last week was a travesty for the gamecocks, but there's alot of talent there, and with Spurrier they'll add the state of Florida to their list of recruiting hot beds.

The move is phenominal, like someone said on Around the Horn yesterday, perhaps Mr Spurrier decided against following his legend at florida after the Joe Gibbs incident in Washington.

His going to South Carolina will only make that team better, and it is a garuntee the moment he settles in to his office fellow SEC coaches will immediatly see South Carolina as a huge game on their 2005 schedule.

The Gamecocks will definately finish next season in the Top 25 if Spurrier goes there, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in a BCS bowl game, or at the very least, a New Year's day bowl game. South Carolina definately has a lot of talent, and this is the man who can make their passing game better than any other team around, including perhaps even the USC Trojans.
