Girls Basketball in D# 3 Rankings...
DISTRICT #3 GIRLS' RANKINGS
Friday, January 21, 2005
Of The Patriot-News:
GIRLS CLASS (AAAA)
1. Harrisburg 16-1
2. Lower Dauphin 17-0
3. Red Lion 16-2
4. Hempfield 16-1
5. Manheim Twp. 13-4
GIRLS CLASS (AAA)
1. Bishop McDevitt 11-5
2. Palmyra 14-2
3. Lancaster Catholic 15-2
4. Susquehannock 13-5
5. West Perry 14-3
GIRLS CLASS (AA)
1. Trinity 14-3
2. Delone Catholic 17-1
3. York Catholic 18-1
4. Schuylkill Valley 14-2
5. Halifax 13-3
GIRLS CLASS (A)
1. Lebanon Catholic 11-6
2. Scotland 8-8
3. Lancaster Country Day 15-0
4. Reading Central Catholic 8-8
5. Greenwood 10-6
NOTES: There are philosophical questions that simply have no answer and yet are worth pondering endlessly.
What we are about to ask is not one of those questions. Sorry to let you down. Because what we're wondering is simply this: What should we do with that 8-8 Scotland team?
For those not intimate with the situation, a short rehash is in order. Scotland wins a tight one with Shippensburg, a Class (AAA) team with a 9-7 record. In the meanwhile, Lancaster Country Day racks up a 15-0 schedule playing teams that are acknowledged by most to be inferior. So today, the Cadets appear in the No.# 2 slot. The justification: They've improved and have learned from tough games. First time Scotland played Shippensburg, it lost by "14" points.
A few other changes this week, mostly to keep you looking and watching: Susquehannock is now entrenched in the thick of the Class (AAA) rankings after beating Central York, and West Perry joins them after pounding Boiling Springs. Halifax jumps into the Class (AA) list after storming to the Tri-Valley first-half championship. And yes, Trinity remains a spot above Delone, even if Delone beat Trinity in the second game of the season. Call it a hunch. Hate on it if you will. Time's a-coming when we'll find out for sure, anyway.
