vman,

I think this Pitt team is built differently than previous ones. This team can actually score points. They have several offensive weapons with the emergence of Sam Young, Gilbert Brown, and Keith Benjamin. Everyone is making a big deal about depth. If Pitt can get through 4 games in 4 days in New York, playing two per weekend with a days rest in between should not be an issue. Depth could be an issue as far as foul trouble goes.

Again, I said this team is built differently. During the portion of the season that Fields was out, Pitt's defense was admittedly softer than usual. They still scored points and they still found ways to win difficult games. That is why I think this Pitt team will get a chance to play Memphis in the Sweet 16. We have won playing different styles and sometimes the Tournament makes you do that.

I don't think it's bandwagon jumping as much as who is hot, healthy, and playing physical team ball. There are 25-30 teams in America with enough talent to win the tourney if they are playing ball and a bit lucky. Pitt may not be completely healthy but they are healthier than they have been since November(started 10-0) and have only lost 1 game since Fields came back. That's proof that they got the goods. Their biggest problem could be drawing an ACC officiating crew that will have everyone including the towel boys with 3 fouls by halftime.

Aside from Duke/Belmont, the first day of the tournament was extremely boring. I got 13 of 16 right, missing on Michigan State, West Virginia and UNLV's victories.

I hear ya hilly, (and again not to look past a tough MSU squad & a terrific coach) I think Memphis poses match-up problems....they have more than one big & other than the incredible freshman (D Blair) taking on anyone on either end of the court, we may well have trouble with their 3's & definitely 4's.......I was delighted to see a ton of positive minutes from Biggs in the BET...but if DeJuan has to sit due to fouls vs this squad it could be big time problems!

Headed to church here soon ...may put in a Panther novena or 2! Believe me I'm pulling!

BTW, did TAE post a predicted Pitt loss following the game? At least he is consistent. haha!

The Western Kentucky and Drake game was an outstanding game. The three to win it with three guys in his face was amazing

Pitt will lose to Oral Roberts in the first round and then lose next year as well in the first round like they always do.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
