when weatherly and miller go head to head, CC won't have any1 to even slow weatherly down, on the other hand johnstown always does have quickness that can keep miller from scoring as much. Of course he's gonna score no matter what but i feel weatherly will have no problem being the top scorer out of those two.

How can you all not like Bedford this year. i know that BM and Jownstown will be tough but they are returning 4 or th 5 starters only losing Dan smith. Dan was a good player for the Bisons but they have another big post player that cnan step in. Mark scott and Zach Hess (who plays good defense) can shot very well and make a lot of points this year for the bisons. mark needs to improve his D a little and he will be a great player. Mike Short is also a player that can shoot well and plays very hard nosed defense an gets a lot of rebounds inside for a gaurd. Jeromy Marshall didn't start last year but he is very quick and can make a lot of shots. Steve Garlock will very hard to guard on the inside for teams standing 6 foot 8 and will generate a lot of points and rebounds. So i wouldn't count bedford out for a top spot next year.

I dont know if Bedford will be the top of the LHAC, but I would be confident in saying they should be highly competitive. Zach Hess is a good defensive player. Check Max preps and see how he guarded Miller from CC. I think he held him to a pretty low scoring output, if memory serves correctly. I was curious to see if anyone could guard Miller since an earlier post said 'no one' in the LHAC can guard him. I think from the stats on Max Preps- Hess did a good job. Then of course if CC was blowing them out then Miller may have sat alot. But the one game I saw, Miller played most of the game though and Hess did a good job on him. It seemed at one point Miller got a little frustrated.

They will def. miss Dan Smith's rebounding and block shots.

Mark Scott should be an exciting player.

Garlock struggled last year. (see stats on Max preps) Hopefully he can turn it around.

Marshall and Short can also be a huge help to the Bison.

3 big questions I have would be:

1 How will thier bench play be?

2 Can they set aside egos and play as a team?

3 Can they learn how to win the big games?

Bedford looks (on paper) that they should be solid. Hopefully with the handful of good athletes [that they have] they will learn to understand the team concept and not worry about individual acolades.

One good thing for Bedford is that they will be flying under the radar so to speak. Teams should overlook them because of their lack of success the last few years. It could make for an interesting year in the LHAC and D6 AAA. Can the Bison turn it around and taste success? AFter losing for so long, can they learn how to win, even with good athletes returning?

There's a team that no one's talking about (outside of gogators) but should be good. I saw them play twice this year---Hess is a quick little point guard with a good knack for penetration. Mark Scott, if left open, is a dead on 3pt shooter, but is neutralized by any sort of pressure D from what I've seen. Garlock is a long decently skilled post player who should contribute a solid 10 and 10 every night. Short could be a decent role player, reminding me of Rick Fox for some reason. They wont beat CC, beat may challenge BG and others in LHAC section 1.

In Miller's defense, the first game at Bedford he had the flu, played not even half the game, and had no problem letting Gowen Holsinger and McGregor run the show. And the second Bed-CC game was senior night--he didnt play much then either. Hess might be one of the most underrated LHAC players, but he's still a Mookie Blaylock to JM's Chris Paul.

I followed the CC boys pretty closely the past couple years, and two special thing about this year's bunch were 1) they had all been running together for a while and 2) they had been winning during that whole time together. They had all played significant roles in big games as sophomores/freshmen, they all started by the time they were juniors, and were seasoned veterans who knew how to win the big games as well as the small ones, in crunch time and in mop up time. Contrarily, the Bedford boys probably haven't played a meaningful basketball game at all in the past two years. It's mighty hard to change a losing culture, but if Bedford does get back to the winning ways of Troy Harris and Co., it will be because they accomplished the tough task of learning how to win on the fly.

There was a MVP chosen from each of the teams. Catich was the Blair County MVP, and Tranquillo won it for the Central PA boys.

Yes Catich was rather impressive yesterday. Anyone know if/where he's playing ball in college?

I'm sure he's planning on it. Just not sure where. I know DeChellis attended several games, but I don't know if anything was offered.

Really? Thats awesome for Catich. Just from scrimmaging against him this year, I'm not sure he's quite at that level, but you never know. When defending him he just seemed to stand around alot and not call for the ball like he should probably have. But the kid is a very good jumper and finisher, shoots the deep ball well, and is surprisingly both very fast and reliable in the open court. A very nice player who I'm guessing will get the POY for the Altoona Mirror
