All four first-round series end in sweeps. (As an aside: How does Bedford draw from an entire county and finish fourth in the league and get swept in the first round of the playoffs?)

Round 2
Ebensburg (5) vs. St. Michael (1)
> A rainout today would give Ebensburg the option of trying to bring Nalisnick back in Game 2 Tuesday on two days' rest instead of needing to get to Game 3 to use him. St. Michael's got Malesky ready to go for Game 1, I'd imagine.
> Give St. Michael a solid advantage at the plate and a slight advantage pitching. Ebensburg gets the nod for team defense and a big edge in team speed.

Claysburg (2) vs. Westmont (3)
> Arms vs. sticks. This could be a great series.
> Again with the rain, will Claysburg bring Aungst back on short rest for Game 1 (if it's Monday) or go with someone else and line Aungst and Swope up for Games 2 and 3?
> Westy can hit, 1 through 9, and will be tough to beat if they get good pitching.

Where did you get your info that the second round starts today? The Johnstown excuse for a newspaper said the second round does NOT start till Mon.

I talked to one of the coaches who said they'd roll right into the second round Sunday because they're already behind with the weather, but Altoona paper says Monday, too, so I that obviously changed. My bad. Apologies.

Bedford got upset because of one key factor: Hitting. Bedford's offense (or the lack thereof) during the playoffs killed them, but during the regular season they were on fire having 2 kids (Godissart and Torbet) in the top five categories for homeruns and RBIs in the Cambria league. They hit their peak too early in the season and could not finish out in the same manner, end of story.

Bedford scored 8 runs the first game, that should have been enough to win with one of their top pitchers, Smith, throwing.
I didn't see the second game so I'm not sure if Nalisnick was that good or their bats were that bad.
