READING COMPREHENSION V-MAN.

those stats are vs. BCS AFFILIATED SCHOOLS IN BCS AFFILIATED CONFERENCES. Penn State has played 50% of their OOC games vs. teams from BCS schools. good enough to be considered in the top 10 since the BCS's inception.

funny. if you could read, and then comprehend, you'd see that PSU plays 50% of their OOC games vs. BCS schools! Get off of it already!

Deliverance, lets try this again.

There is one team in the B10 this year who does not have a decent OOC game: Northwestern.

Okay so a home and home does not count? So then Illinois and Missouri doesn't count? PSU played in South Bend and in Lincoln recently. YOUR OWN TEAM played in Columbus.
Penn State played a home and home with Nebraska. They played a home and home w/ Notre Dame. They play an Oregon State team who led the nation in 2007 in rushing defense, and Oregon State is a decent program. Michigan played Utah and will play Notre Dame. Minnesota played Bowling Green. I'm waiting for the Pitt nation to make fun of Bowling Green and Utah. Illinois played a top 10 Missouri, which Deliverance thinks is a "joke". He'll find out October 18th. Indiana plays a Ball State team that I have going undefeated. Iowa plays Iowa State and a supposed top 25 team in Pitt. Michigan State played a top 25 team in Cal. Purdue plays no. 16 Oregon. Wisconsin plays no. 21 Fresno on the road.

Looks pretty good to me.
What in that paragraph looks weak? That looks pretty solid to me: 1 team played no decent competition. What the heck more do you want?

A quick glance @ 2008 schedules searching for 10 teams w/ more difficult OOC schedules than UPS...here are 11

Georgia plays: @ Arizona St. & Geo Tech
USC plays @ Virginia, Ohio St & ND
Oklahoma plays: Cincinnati, @Washington & TCU
Florida plays: Hawaii, Miami (Fla.) & @ Fla St.
Oregon plays: Utah St., @ Purdue & Boise St.
Oregon St plays UPS, Utah & Hawaii
Fla. Atlantic (a program much more formidable than Fla Int who Moe & Curley scheduled last yr.) plays: @ Texas, UAB, @ Michigan St. & @ Minnesota
PITT plays: 2 MAC's. ND, Iowa & Navy
UCLA plays: Tennessee @ BYU, Arizon & Fresno St.
Colorado plays @ Colorado St., West Virginia & @ Florida St.
North Carolina plays: @ Rutgers, Connecticut & Notre Dame

Next question?
You're okay w/ the 69th toughest sched....including Big 10 games???

You know, I will give up here....but reality is: 2004 thru 2008 (and in foreseeable future) they've made a conscious effort to only schedule one game vs a top flight opponent and find like the 3 easiest squads/teams that will not want a home & home...Remember >

you say 1:3. I provide you with 2:2. Why do you get to name the years? Why not go from when the BCS's inception forward? Because it doesn't fit your purpose. That's why. Completely ignore TAE's and my posts when they make 100% valid points that contradict your view and stance!

Where did you have to go to find that abpk post? He hasn't yet posted on this thread yet. Unreal.

'04 thru '08 inclusively, is a five yr span...the 5 most recent/relative years[/b....]in those 5 yrs it is clearly UPS only scheduled one 'challenging' game....and will continue doing so in the future!!

1:3, 2:2, 110, 220, 221...whatever it takes!!!

TAE, take off your Big 10 bias glasses and think about it. You know better than that. PSU plays no one OOC. Don't even try to tell me Oregon State is decent. They will be lucky to win 6 games and I highly doubt that is going to happen. I don't call that decent. If you call that decent, then you could use Pitt as an example of a decent team the past few years. We all know that's not true. You won't change my mind on this one.

Are you counting Central Michigan for Indiana?
Are you counting Oregon State for PSU?
Who are you counting for Minnesota? Bowling Green or FAU?
Ohio State plays USC. There's 1.
Wisconsin plays at Fresno State. That is 2.
Iowa plays Pitt. Sorry, that leaves you at 2.
Illinois played Missouri. That is 3.
Purdue plays Oregon. That is 4.
Michigan State played Cal. That is 5.
Michigan played Utah. I guess that may count for 6.

That's a little over half, but not all of the teams in the Big 11. Your research showed different results than mine.

How's that Texas - Rice rivalry? Must be pretty heated since you play them every season. I'm sure it rivals Colorado and Co. State and UGA and Geo. Tech, right? How about the fact that he throws FAU out there as a bad opponent? Guess who Texas played already. Deliverance, answer me this: who is picked to win the Sun Belt this year by everyone under the sun?

Yep, Bowling Green sucks. Any Pitt fans want to dispute this yet? Anybody? Anybody at all?

So Indiana plays a Ball State team I have going undefeated, and a Central Michigan team that every college preseason magazine has winning their conference, a conference that has shown a hell of a lot of progress lately against BCS schools. But those Indiana matchups are cupcakes? That doesn't make any sense, Deliverance.

Answer me this: who is picked to win the MAC this season, and is their QB hyped as a top 3 QB prospect in the 2009 draft?

Oregon State. Here's a program who snapped USC's conference winning streak. Here's a team who has the longest active streak of Pac-10 bowl victories. Here's a team who led the nation (that includes being ahead of Penn State and Texas) in rushing defense last year. Don't act like Oregon State is Utah State, Deliverance. You know dang well that Oregon State is "decent".

From what I've seen of the Big East, Pitt looks like they might legitimately win that conference. So the game vs. Iowa is a good OOC game.

So you have 6 of 11 Big Ten teams playing a decent OOC opponent. There is a case for 10 of 11, chico. Only team who plays no one "decent" is Northwestern.

Look at that list for Strength of Schedule. NONE of top 21 had winning records. Maybe that is because those top 20 teams listed gave up free wins weekly to their opponents adding to their opponents record......

Stats and numbers can always be used in any way you want to use them. See, if you beat teams, you take their win percentage down and overall strength down.

Who cares what Oregon State did last year or the year before!! Lets just all ride this "PSU is gonna win the National Title" fantasy out until they hit the Big 11 schedule. Every year PSU plays their early patsie schedule and all the die hard Jokepa fans have to start justifying their wins vs. cupcakes. It happens almost every year. They start out 4-0 and hit the Big 11 and reality sets in. I am sure the same will happen again this year.
