some people better start giving this team its props, they are way better than most think. they are as good as many of the early 2000's teams Windber had from the west pac. they play great defense. go get em stangs!

This Portage team doesn't even begin to compare to the Windber teams of the early 2000s. Those teams went to the ditrict 6A championship game three years straight, and even won it once. Begin comparing Portage to Windber when they rattle off 4 consecutive undefeated seasons or when they even make it to a district championship game

Portage plays no one and has won nothing...No District Championships, no PIAA games, NOTHING. Talk to me when Portage wins a 6-A Championship...Heck talk to me if they MAKE a 6A championship game and can stay within 3TDs of their opponent!!!!

lol does anyone even knwo the last time they made a D6 title game. i dont even know if i can think of a team that ahs been more overated ever then this portage team. And may i add they still ahve to play north star who very well could beat them. not that it would make me think much of north star either if they did.

I checked the records going back to 1985, and Portage has never played in a district 6A championship game, let alone won a district title. teams like ferndale, mo-valley, and conemaugh valley have won district titles....so keep talking about your great 'tradition,' portage fans

Still holding a football grudge from high school I see. Portage has OWNED your Penn Cambria Panthers since the conception of football in the Mainline area. Tougher kids, better coaches, better football...and PC's male enrollment is over double than that of Portage.

Portage has "owned" PC??? When was the last time they played? I am guessing it was around 1989...I recall PC dominating the last several meetings between the two schools. I also recall PC "beating" Portage when they had maybe their best teeam ever, an unbeaten team back in the early 1980s (I believe their record was 8-0-2)...Portage won the game when QB Bernie Gorba bounced a 4th and 15 pass (literally BOUNCED it 3 yards in front of the receiver right in front of Corky) to a WR very late in the game (under 2:00 left) that was called a catch and led to the winning TD for Portage, who won a tight game, something like 19-13.

Had PC and Portage played the last 17-18 years, I think Portage would have maybe 1-2 wins over PC.

When was the last District 6 Championship Portage has won? NEVER.

PC has never won one either, but reached the 6-AAA finals in 2000 and 2002. Portage has never played in the 6A finals. Heck, FERNDALE even has a 6A championship back in 1995.

Portage has tougher kids than PC? I want to see the evidence that proves that assertion.

Portage has had better coaches? Well, Corky was at PC for awhile...It's been the Gary and Corky show for the last 20-25 years or so. Help me understand how those two are better than Fetzer, Tomaselli (A Portage grad, LOL), or Hatch...and who can forget "Vega$" Chuck Lucidore???

Portage has better football? That depends on what you want. If you want to watch Junior High football, go see a Portage or WeakPac game. If you want to watch Varsity football, go watch a PC or LHACK game.

PC's male enrollment is double that of Portage? I don't dispute that you're at least close on that one...The schools used to be a lot closer in enrollment. Now, PC has significantly more males.

You are right though...Portage DOES have a tradition...A TRADITION of beating up on weak teams during their WeakPac season, then receiving beatings come playoff time.

I'm saying if Portage changed to the LHAC this season, they would go a solid 6-4 (With the losses coming to McCort, FH, CC, and PC)

they would get stomped by bg too who lost to mccort by 3 and beat PC. they would lose to probably carroll as well. i pray either bg or carroll gets a shot at them befor BM does in the playoffs
