As Far As I'm Concerned, Portage Won NOTHING. AGAIN!!!!!!!! Is there any truth to the rumor that Gouse is having T-shirts printed for his players that say : "Best D6A public school that begins with the letter "P"? They did beat Purchase Line, so they can claim that one. Bellwood would smack Portage in the mouth if they played. There is absolutely no comparing the two. Good luck next year Portage. Remember: Not only will McCort be single A again, but so will Bellwood. And you will never beat them. Any team that wears green is terrified of BA, just ask the Hornets of Juniata Valley.

I agree, it wil be McCort and Bellwood in D6 single A football. I do think BC, BM, and Portage will be in the mix for 3rd.

Once again, I don't understand why people on this site think that Portage should play bigger, better teams. They play teams their own size, if not bigger. They are in the lower half of enrollment for WestPac schools. I agree that playing bigger schools would help

I think the Rangers should go to D5, then they would be guaranteed champs every year!

I actually agree with you D6Guru. Fh should move to D5 if they really want a district champ, but the same goes for portage too.
I also agree that bellwood and BM will meet next year for D6 title.

As for playing out of leagues, I think that schools should play within their enrollment, but (in portages case) don't complain when you lose to a better team. I think if portage would move to the icc they might not win the conference at first, (or maybe have a great record) but they would be better prepared for the playoffs, and maybe with the D6. Don't you think?

McCort is in District 6, the WPIAL encompasses District 7. That's why they won't join the WPIAL.

Portage is so bad, they didnt play anyone all year then they play McCort and get beat.

In case you haven't seen these numbers lately, here are the male enrollment numbers for District 6 single A for 2008-2009 season. As you can see, Portage ranks 15 out of 25 in enrollment. Based on the male/female enrollment numbers from piaa.org, Portage graduates approximately 75 students per school year. Therefore I ask, who do you want them to play? They play in a conference with schools that are relatively their size. They beat schools out of their conference that are larger than they are as well. They also got throttled by a team that would win district 6 AA and compete for a AAA title as well. To look even further, their are probably about 2 teams in D6 that are better than McCort (State College and Hollidaysburg). So back to my point, Portage plays right where they are supposed to play. You can call them overrated but never will they ever be able to compete with the likes of Bishop McCort, as really no one else in D6 A or AA can as well.

Their are many teams that have to play up in the LHAC, so I don't want hear what a shame it is that Portage had to finally play good team. Now the WESTPACKERS finally know how crappy that league really is. Its their own fault for not finding more challenging teams to play during the year. I heard they had six yards of offense at the half. What a powerhouse they have built out their. WOW!

You know......Portage players NOR the coaches make the schedule. They play in a league that may be sub par. Talk earlier on this same exact forum was about how tough the ICC was too. I guess we found out how good the ICC really was also. The westpac is a good league for Portage. You guys think everyone should play in the LHAC. Unless the small schools are allowed to pick and choose their players most A teams would not compete INCLUDING BELLWOOD. 24-20 to McCort is a respectable score BUT it would be close every time with the community college winning every one of them.

We saw how tough the LHAC was in AA and we'll see that the LHAC can't compete anywhere outside the state this weekend in A ball. Pretty sad if you ask me. McCort should never lose a game in my opinion neither should Carroll or Guilfoyle. Their coaches should be fired for not getting the right kids to "transfer for academics" at their school.
