Cambria County All Stars make All State (aka McCort/Carroll)

Like I said before, there should only be TWO all-state teams, Big school (AAAA and AAA) and Small school (AA and A). This would separate the men from the boys. Making an all-state team used to mean something, now it's like getting a trophy for "participating" in little league.

Just want to say, Lowry is completely deserving and to make a point on the recruiting issue.. i have no idea why everyone says these two schools (carroll and mccort) recruit.
i believe if any of these kids went to a public school, they still would have made 1st team, it's not the school that makes the kid, the kid is talented no matter which school he goes to. Congratulations to these hard-working, great athletes. You all deserve it.

If you're going to try and tell me that Steve Greene should be 1st team All-State you're crazy. I have nothing against the kid and think he's a good football player who may develop into one hell of a lineman at the next level, but 1st team All-State? No way. Have the people who picked him ever even seen him play? Because he was consistently dominated in most games this season.

Coach, Where are you even going with that? McCort and Carrol don't recruit because if the players went to a public school they'd still make the all-state team?? Doesn't make much sense to me..

How much better do you think Lowery looked on defense when 2 starters for McCort showed up from other teams (Laurel Valley and Westmont) this year? Don't you think his play was enhanced when a couple of starters from out of nowhere helped make the other defenders on McCort's team look better?

Lowry is just as deserving as anyone on this list. To judge a player simply by how many interceptions he had is ridiculous. Lowry was the leader of BM on both sides of the ball. Rugg is a great player but IMO he would maybe be good enough for 2nd team, let alone 1st team all-state. Domonkos and McCombie made it as special teams players and they were both deserving. Greene did not deserve all-state honors. I caught a couple BC games were he was completely dominated and gave up(BM, Johnstown, FH). If you're getting dominated in the LHAC you do not deserve to be all-state at any level. Erickson made it simply because of his yardage and Windber being in the state playoffs. However, he racked up yardage on Westpac teams while getting the ball an insane amount of times, and Windber was in the state playoffs only because the D5 A playoffs are terrible.

If you want to talk about team leaders, how isn't a quarterback a big team leader. if you want to count offensive stats kalgren passed for 1447 yards and rushed for 182 yards.

ALL-STATE DB is NOT awarded for a team leader on both sides of the ball. It is for the best defensive backs in the state.

According to maxpreps website:
Lowry had 49 tackles and 19 assists in 13 games for 68 total tackles. 21 of these tackles came in the last two games. That is an average of 5.2 tackles a game. He had 4 interceptions. (Had he not played so many games he would have had 40 tackles or so.)

Kalgren had 37 tackles and 24 assists in 10 games for 61 total tackles. That is an average of 6.1 tackles per game. He had 10 interceptions.

Looks to me like Kalgren got hosed big time to give the undeserving PRIVATE SCHOOL RECRUIT a spot on the 1st team.

well lakersfan, i'm saying that just because mccort and carroll have great football programs, it does not mean they recruit. the kids who were awarded 1st team all state were completely deserving, how many of their games did you watch?? AND the athletes who did get 1st team all state from carroll and mccort were not by all means recruited. but to answer your question.. i guarantee it did not matter which school they chose.. if they did choose to attend a public school, they still would be great football players. as i said before, the school doesnt make the players, it's the players who play the game. it also helped especially for mccort that they did go so far that they had 3 players on the 1st team. without a solid team, it is hard for multiple players to get 1st team all state. in conclusion, these picks were very well chosen. Rugg is excellent at offensive line. Lowry is outstanding, if you watched one McCort football game, you'd know that.. and Domonkos is by far the best kicker in the area, if not the state. I only watched 2 Carroll games, but the 2 games i was in attendance for.. Greene and McCombie were stand-outs.
