When teams are awarded BCS games after failing to win their conference, its out of the good of the BCS committees heart. You know, because conference champions are guaranteed a spot.

So TAE is Oregon State a good or a bad team? You were pretty high on them especially after they beat USC. Now what is your opinion after they only beat Pitt 3-0. I "think" you (and many other nitters) said they were a GREAT OOC team for psu. If you think Pitt is so bad then how can such a great Oregon St team only beat them 3-0. Since you are the expert, let us know.

And as for the post by apbk about Pitt joining the big 11 tomorrow, why should they??? They are an east coast team not a mid west team. The Big East is a good fit for them. They did beat 1 big 11 team that psu couldn't so I would be careful what you wish for.

It would be good for everybody if Pitt joined the Big Ten. But the basketball in the Big East right now is second to none, so they aren't going anywhere any time soon, nor should they.

Oregon State coach Mike Riley is a guy that does things his own way. They chase recruits that they want, without any heed paid to the recruiting hype. One of the things I admire the most about Riley (and Bob Stoops) is their ability to put their egos aside and accept JUCO depth. Riley does a good job attracting and utilizing JUCO prospects. They also go after kids who are great fits for a school in the middle of nowhere that competes against large city schools like USC, Stanford, UCLA, Arizona State, and Washington. Riley is a very respected coach, and his name comes up for "bigger" jobs now and again, like the Notre Dame one. People like his approach to the game and his working-class ethic. The knock on Riley is that he has trouble getting his teams to show up every week. But he does do a pretty good job of coaching them up for games against teams who are either hands-down better than them, or probably are better than them. I was very surprised that Moevao won the starting job over Sean Canfield in the preseason, because what I saw of Canfield, he was the hands down better QB. But Moevao's progression over this season was exceptional. Pitt played a much better Oregon State team than Penn State did. As I said when Oregon State and PSU collided, I was worried about Stroughter and the other WR, I can't remember his name right now. I was worried that the Beavers would be able to do to the PSU secondary what USC did yesterday, which was take advantage of those ridiculous gaps between the corners and Safeties. And like I said a couple times today or yesterday, Scirrotto and Rubin are good players, they really do utilize their toughness and heart to where it can overcompensate for the lack of speed and poor secondary coaching, but we all saw what happened when PSU went up against an offense that had the potential to really exploit those gaps. All PSU fans on this site know the score, Shocker, we all know why PSU loses when they do, and its because of that coverage. That's what Oregon State was able to do as the season wore on for them, and the emergence of Rodgers was exactly what the offense needed to get those good WRs in gear. Moevao only got better as a QB in his technical stuff as the season went on. Pitt's defense did an excellent job holding them to 3, and its a shame the offense was nowhere to be found. Oregon State lost to Utah because of coaching mistakes at the end of that game. They were also "thisclose" to playing in a BCS game after losing their top 7 tacklers from 2007. So yes, Oregon State is a GOOD team who can at times play a great game, but they also have trouble showing up each week.
