With the realization that, similar to FB, UT has traditionally been able to recruit more studs than the lunch pale Panthers of the past several yrs., let's look @ a few big games the horns were involved in in the last few yrs (as reported by one of my on crac......errr crack staff members):

in '04 Lost to Ok St n Big 12 Tourney, Lost to Xavier in NCAA Tourney

In '05 Lost to Colo. in Big 12 Tourney, Lost to Nevada in NCAA Tourney

In '06 lost to Kansas in Big 12 Tourney, Lost to LSU in regionals of NCAA

In '07 lost to Kansas in Big 12 Tourney, Lost to USC by 19 in NCAA Tourney

In '08 lost to Kansas in Big 12 Tourney, Lost to Memphis by 20 in NCAA Tourney

Was it just a coincidence that you left out the 02-03 season where Texas made the Final Four? Also, you failed to mention two Elite 8 appearances in the past 3 seasons. Those are all things Pitt has NEVER done since the field has expanded to 64 and Texas has done them in three of the past six seasons. Show the football statistics, too. Let's see how your "boyfriends" try to cut that one. As far as recruiting goes, Pitt has done just as well as Texas until the last couple years in basketball. Good try, though. Remind me again how many Elite 8 appearances that Pitt has made.

Syracuse actually has success in the Tournament of 64 unlike Pitt. I never said the Big East was a bad conference.

Do you measure success by winning the Big 12 or making it far in the Big Dance? I know Pitt celebrates winning Big East titles like they are National Titles because they suck in the big tournament. When's the last time Pitt was in the Elite 8 again? Texas was there last year and they are a football school. Isn't Pitt a basketball school? Thought so.

Texas
1998-1999 19-13 NCAA First Round
1999-2000 24-9 NCAA Second Round
2000-2001 25-9 NCAA First Round
2001-2002 22-12 NCAA Sweet Sixteen
2002-2003 26-7 NCAA Final Four
2003-2004 25-8 NCAA Sweet Sixteen
2004-2005 20-11 NCAA First Round
2005-2006 30-7 NCAA Elite 8
2006-2007 25-10 NCAA Second Round
2007-2008 31-7 NCAA Elite 8

Pitt
98-99 14-16 No tournament appearance
99-00 13-15 No tournament appearance
00-01 19-14 NIT Sweet Sixteen...HA
01-02 29-6 NCAA Sweet Sixteen
02-03 28-5 NCAA Sweet Sixteen
03-04 31-5 NCAA Sweet Sixteen
04-05 20-9 NCAA First Round
05-06 24-7 NCAA Second Round
06-07 29-8 NCAA Sweet Sixteen
07-08 27-10 NCAA Second Round

There you have it. Texas was co-champion in the Big 12 last season. Your staff must not have done a lot of research, vman. Also, Texas has made it farther than Pitt in 9 out of the last 10 seasons. Meanwhile, in the NCAA Tournament, Pitt has 10 wins while Texas has 16 in the last 10 seasons. Texas has two Elite 8 appearances to Pitt's 0. Texas has one Final Four appearance to Pitt's 0. This is just in the last 10 years. Pitt was even worse in the 5 years before this. I didn't want to make vman cry too much. Is Pitt really a basketball school? That would be a good debate.

First of all skippy, my crack research staff clearly delineated UT's record in the last 5 Big 12 Tourneys: not reg season champs co champs

My staff merely hummed an antiphon to your claim that Pitt does not win any big games!

Are the tournament games really that big if you are already in the tournament? If so, 7 out of the top 10 teams are in big trouble this year. That includes your Pitt Panthers. Didn't Pitt win the Big East tourney last year? How did that work out for them once they got in the Big Dance?

In the last 10 seasons:
Texas 16 wins in the NCAA Tournament...3 Elite 8 appearances...1 Final Four appearance
Pitt 10 wins in the NCAA Tournament...NEVER MADE IT TO THE ELITE 8

Texas has won big games. Pitt has not. That's all there is to it.
