Re: BIG EAST Invitational Tournament
Pitt's ugly play finally caught up to them. This was actually their best game of the tournament to this point, but they finally had to play a team with a talent level close to their own. How can you let Reynolds drive right into the lane with only 5 seconds to go? Maybe they'll finally learn that they need to beef up their non-conference schedule to get their team ready for the end of the year. If they don't, they will continue to lose big games that they should win in the NCAA Tournament.

Re: BIG EAST Invitational Tournament
Pitt needs to improve their non-conference schedule? Their overall strenght of schedule was ranked #8 in the country. Their non-conference schedule included 4 teams that were in the NCAA tournament.
They lost a close game to an excellent team that just destroyed and exposed Duke. Maybe Duke needs to beef up their non-conference schedule.
I hope you NItwits enjoy your NIT game against the Big East's 10th Place team.

Re: BIG EAST Invitational Tournament
Such rubbish!! Look @ strength of schedule which had absolutely zero to do with that contest last eve professor. Sagarin has Pitt's schedule as 8th best in the country.....how the he!! can you even bring something like that up? Are you totally clueless re. this sport?
For the more informed it was, as predicted, a classic struggle and a tough out for Pitt! I think lack of production from outside of the big 3 (Young, Blair & Fields) again stood out. Brown in particular did very little (including the ole defense in the paint on the last drive).

Re: BIG EAST Invitational Tournament
If Pitt would have had to stop a team with 5 seconds to go one other time this season, that terrible defense at the end of the game would not have happened. It's what those of us that know nothing about basketball call help defense. If someone steps up to help, that forces their best player to pass the ball and someone else shoot it. Instead, Pitt allowed Reynolds to beat them on a layup from 2 feet away. Can you necessarily blame scheduling on that? No, and I totally agree with that. Would they have had a better chance of seeing it before if they had a better non-conference schedule? Probably. I guess we could sit here and analyze coaching or free throw shooting instead. It doesn't really matter. Their season is over. It ended prematurely like it always does and I am not shocked.

Re: BIG EAST Invitational Tournament
Even though Pitt missed 8 free throws, their percentage was above their season average.
I understand why nobody stepped in front of the ball handler, they were afraid of committing a foul with under 5 seconds left. If someone would have fouled, everyone would have been saying, "Why in the world did they foul him."
If Coach Dixon could have that possession back, I guarantee he would have made Nova inbound the ball with all defenders behind their man.
He may have zone pressed, forcing one pass thus causing the clock to expire.
Hindsight is 20/20 and we are all bleacher coaches in this game. Pitt had a chance to win and lost on a great play by a great player. That is much more than Duke can say after they were dismantled and exposed.

Re: BIG EAST Invitational Tournament
If I'm totally clueless, what does that say for you? I am sitting 5 spots ahead of you in our College Basketball Tourney pool. I do believe you can't score anymore points while I still have my champion left. I back up my talk with results. You can't say the same.how the he!! can you even bring something like that up? Are you totally clueless re. this sport?
