Kids who wouldn't have an opportunity to win a championship will be able to put themselves in that enviable position?????? Funny, Homer-Center WAS in that enviable position to win that championship. It was a dream that they had all season. Too bad the school they were playing against had to "pick up" a player from another school to round out their pitching roster, to make their line-up complete. Nice try wicked. You guys should by now be getting used to those tainted victories.

Hey, it's been quite a year for the Crushers. Just won the District 6 baseball championship with a "pick up" player playing a huge role in their season. There was the "pick up" player who helped McCort during the basketball season. Then there was the "pick-ups" that played huge roles during the football season. And wicked wants to know why more kids don't do it more often. The reason that more kids don't do it more often is because it's called cheating. Some kids and parent's have scruples, you know.

Eeryone is on the high horse at McCort now but give it five to ten years when they are bad in sports and begging kids to go there just so the school canstay open.

I don't think it's going to be 5-10 years. Based on what is coming out of the parochial league, I think their sports program is going to start dropping in the next 3 to 5 years. I think they need to step up their efforts at bringing in more of the Johnstown High kids. They're going to need just one player to make a difference - probably 2 if not 3. No doubt they're going to need to centralize their recruiting efforts - rather than just being random.

Question: Where will their next great recruit come from?

Oh, and El Moldo, personally, I don't care. It's just fun arguing with all of you over the CURRENT situation that none of us or anyone else is going to change.

I would have loved to have been there today when McCort's principal read the sports in the Tribune this morning. Can you imagine the look on his face, about half-way through the McCort write-up about the game, when he read Harrington's quote about Lenhart which said, "He came from Laurel Valley and is a huge pick-up for us". WOW!!!! I'll bet Salem did the same thing Paterno did a couple of years ago before halftime at the Ohio State game. It's one thing that they pick up kids from other schools, but to brag about it in the paper??? Un-bee-leeve-a-bull!!!

Sure. Wickedcrossover doesn't care. He has no compassion for a team like Homer-Center. The playing field is/was slanted in BM's direction. Why should he care? Even a hollow victory is a win.

For like the 147th time, Funk You Moldy (if you don't have any thing nice to say about your obsession w/ McCort....) Anyway, McCort wins again: w/ BM leading 5-1 in top of 7th, Neshanock ties game up w/ 4....McCort responds w/ consecutive hits from Colin H. (on a full BB scholie), & Eric Lowry (on a full FB, hardship scholie) thay are moved over by outstanding catcher Z. Vigs (who will attend UPJ on BB scholie as he did BM)... they are driven in by frosh Jessie C.(on best incoming athlete scholie).

Wish you would have just left this topic die out. But instead... here goes. The big difference between you and me is facts. Unlike your past allegations such racism at FH, Bailey fudging numbers to stay AA, or FH referees throwing basketball games causing BM to lose games, I at least support what I say with facts. I did not make up the story about McCort using a "pick up" to help them win the District 6 single A baseball championship. Just like the article in the Tribune a couple of years ago about BM's assistant track coach recruiting a kid from Johnstown, what I said was also documented in the Tribune. And what makes the quote about Lenhart all the more sensational is, is that it wasn't just some ordinary kid spouting off after a victory, but it was BM's valedictorian who said that Lenhart "came from Laurel Valley and is a huge pick-up for us". Talk about a true confession. When quotes like this appear in the local paper, everyone in the area, whether they are sports fans or not, can see what public schools are up against when they play sports against private/parochial schools.

ElMoldo dude you persist in being pitiful n btw a lot of people in Johnstown knew Bailey was cooking books several years ago from a former FH employee.

As people have pointed out this is America n kids like that Lenhart n his family exercised freedom of choice n I bet u he is happy as a lark with no regret. U remain however miserable.

As other people have pointed out:
Exercising freedom of choice = Good
Drawing kids from seven or eight school districts and competing in Class A = Bad

No one is arguing that the young man and his family should not be able to pursue the very best educational options available to them. The school, however, shouldn't be able to "pick him up" to play baseball and still pretend to be Class A.
