Unlike Pitt, freshmen at PSU don't get to pick the position they WANT to play???? You mean like Jeff Hostetler? Attention players: Come to PSU and Paterno will TELL you what position you will play, not the position you WANT to play.

According to the PSU athletic site, NIck Sukay was the 10th ranked wide receiver in the nation coming out of high school. You say now he's a safety??? WOW!!! That's like Jon Ditto. He also was a top notch WR coming out of Gateway high school being recruited by PSU. And now he's a Linebacker????? That's alot of switching going on. Hope Robert Bolden likes to play defense.

This wasn't our biggest target of the year deliverence. He is a great get for the second best WR of the class. All the local schools offered and PSU got him. Just because he didnt get offers from Florida, USC, and Texas does mean he isn't a good prospect? All those schools are thousands of miles away.

So, PSU's second best receiver in their recruiting class had a career best year of 16 receptions and 240 yards in high school. He is from State College and his dad is a professor at PSU. PSU was his best offer by far. Was there any chance they wouldn't get him? I don't see why people are wetting their pants in excitement, but he must look really good running a 40.

Sukay was recruited as a Safety, Moldo. Bradley's exact quote was: "This is the kid I must have."

So the resident special-needs kid on this site has classified Scout as "ranking too many kids too highly", swears by Rivals' rankings, Scout has Kenney as a 3* and Rivals has him as a 4*, yet Kenney is still criticized as "not showing anything on the field". Don't go to law school, kiddo.

In Sukay's bio on the PSU roster site, NOTHING is mentioned about his GREAT defensive skills in high school. There is NO doubt that PSU was looking at him as a receiver out of high school. He certainly was not rated a TOP 10 safety at Greensburg Central Catholic. Again, he was rated the #10 receiver in the nation after his senior year. Ditto got moved to defense. Brackett got moved to receiver from being recruited as a QB. What gives???? You move a top 10 receiver to defense, and then move a QB to receiver. And now, your receiving crew at PSU is less than desirable this year. It may be the Achilles heel of the team, along with the defensive secondary. Move 'em out

Weren't you the one saying that Rivals doesn't have anyone to scout the Northeast? Who scouted him from Rivals then? The kids stats are laughable up until this point, so how has he really shown anything on the field? Was it in Junior High or does he fill up a mean water bottle? Oh, by the way, when is the last time PSU won a National Championship in football?

Well, Moldo, you can either believe it or choose not to, but Nick Sukay was completely recruited as a Safety prospect by Tom Bradley himself, who said that Sukay was the kid he "must have".

This is why Scout should be trusted more in the NE than Rivals.

The starting WRs for the first few games will be Brackett, Moye, and Zug with Powell serving as a slash. They are also running double TE sets b/c they have 2 senior TEs who will probably get drafted.

Brackett was a QB in NJ who was always recruited as a WR because he reminded the staff of Jurevicius. He runs pretty good routes, has good speed, and is a big target.

Zug is a kid who has added decent size, is tough, runs great routes and has good hands. He's an excellent 3rd receiver.

Moye was a 4-star WR from Monroeville who is 6'5" or 6'6" and runs like a gazelle.

My guess is at least one of those freshmen will break into the starting WR corps, whether it be Brown, Kersey, or Drake by the time the Big Ten conference games open up.

Here's how I see the PSU receiving corps this year:
...1) Brackett is a RS junior. Was totally a QB in high school. Converted to a WR originally because he was not going to beat out Morelli, Clark and Devlin. What has he done in 3 years at PSU. Had a TD in the 2008 Blue-White game. Had 13 catches total in 2008. That's 1 catch per game.
...2) Zug was a walk-on after his senior year of high school. His claim to fame: Had one catch as a sophomore against Florida International. Last year had 11 catches. Less than one per game.
...3) Derek Moye, in high school, was a WR on a running team at Rochester High School. Had 16 catches his senior year. Sounds a little like Kenney, doesn't it. Anyhow, Moye had 3 catches last year.
...4) Chaz Powell was a DB and RB at Susquehannock High School. In his bio for 2008, it said he was going to "push Anthony Scirrotto for playing time at free safety. When was the switch to WR???? He had 2 catches in 2008 for the Nits.
... So the total for these explosive starters at WR for PSU this year was 29 catches under game conditions in 2008. What does this say about the Nits passing attack this year? Too bad Sukay and Ditto aren't on offense anymore. Looks like they might have used them. Move 'em out.

Ah how easy we forget that these kids were playing behind the likes of Derrick Williams, Deon Butler and Jordan Norwood. Of course their career catches at Penn State aren't gonna be overly compelling when you're playing behind the best trio of wide receivers that EVER came through Penn State.

When Penn State is ranked in the top 10 this year to start the year, is 9-0 going into the Ohio State game and Pitt remains no where to be seen in the rankings, will you still be complaining about the lack of talent at the WR position?
