Re: Bishop McCort 09
McCort is the hands down favorite in D6 single A, top choice for AA, and would receive first place votes for AAA.

He didn't mean to put a comma in there.El-Moldo wrote:underdog1 just stated that McCort's biggest strength is "the o-line, running game and defense not recruiting". Well what about Merriman? Perhaps, though, underdog1 meant to insert a COMMA between the words 'defense' and 'not', which changes the entire meaning of his sentence. That one little wee COMMA would have changed the entire meaning of his answer.

OK Guru what if there was no choice as the case is in many areas? Many Many know the AD at Windber is a capitol D-ick and maybe parents want no part of him or want catholic education. And what I know of Merriman - his mom pulled him for reason that had to do more with his sister and mom was upset with some administrator or teacher and their handling of her daughter so she pulled her family. These parents had an option - thank God.D6Guru wrote:McCort is the hands down favorite in D6 single A, top choice for AA, and would receive first place votes for AAA.
Their top 3 players/college prospects are Rugg, Seidel, and Merriman. Hey, atleast one of them isn't a public school transfer.
And Rugg came in 9th grade I thought those that cry like little girls said its OK if transferring by ninth grade.

A student does not like a teacher then what do we do, transfer to a different school!!! You do not like the coach, well then, of course transfer to a different school. I wish people would start sucking it up and deal with the problem, in a reasonable manner. I could imagine coming home and telling my Dad I did not like a teacher or coach, he would say "Hey deal with it, work hard, keep your mouth shut". Options are great but I think people have it in there mind to transfer and then look for a problem so they have an excuse to leave.
Last season I heard a parent ridicule the coaching staff of the school his son goes to regarding conditioning. His son said it is too easy. I watched his son run sprints and can understand why it is not hard, he loafed on each sprint. I have now heard in my travels from at least four different parents that the conditioning at the school is slacked. Guess who spread the news? The players who run hard do not say it is easy! Push yourself and make a difference.

If you transfer because you don't like a certain coach, isn't that for athletic reasons? Isn't that against the PIAA rules?

Re: Bishop McCort 09
It should be but if you word it correctly it would probably a transfer due to a social issue not athletics. It will never be stopped either way. I looked on the PIAA minutes and must have saw 12 transfers granted by District 6. I am guessing that it depends on who transfers if they even care or not. I looked back and know of students who transfered and they do not appear in the minutes. It must only be for athletes that they feel are impact players.
I also noticed on the minutes that Brenden Julock's review of his transfer to Blacklick will be after the first game of the season. I do not understand why that is?

A social issue? Maybe Westmont's prom isn't as nice as McCort's and that's the real reason Merriman transferred.

So let's see. District six approves the transfer of approximately 6 players from public schools to McCort but the kid who wants to go from Carrol back to his public school has to be reviewed? Did I miss something?

Is this not America? I get it, it's not fair to single A schools to have to play against a team that can "recruit" or get transfers. But I don’t see anything wrong with parents wanting their children to possibly play for the best "coached" teams in the area. If I live in Pittsburgh but USC is recruiting me, I'm not going to PITT for football. I’m going to USC. You want the best opportunity to win and possibly advance your chances for a scholarship. BM is on the map and your chances of receiving a scholarship to play sports goes up double if you play football there than let’s say Richland.
Should they have to play up in the Playoffs probably? But seeing that they beat schools with larger enrollment than they have during the regular season I don’t see that big of a difference. What so great about sports is the competition. Everything is competition. I think what schools need to do is stop feeling sorry for themselves and making excuses for getting beat by BM by blaming it on recruiting and take a good look at their program. It is a very good system. I give credit to the coaching staff they have that is in place. A great example is Johnstown. They have talent, and it’s fair to say way more talent than BM, and they can't beat BM. It's the system and Coaching.

Let's all go back and read the first 2 sentences of the last post by I Wear Stripes. "Is this not America? I get it, it's not fair to single A schools to have to play against a team that can recruit or get transfers". My question to him is: Does he indeed think it is fair for private schools to be able to get transfers without being questioned? Do private schools have an advantage over public schools in this regard? (And please, let's not hear about private kids who ended up back in the public system for a myriad of reasons).
