A fairly good indicator of things to come is to watch the results of the 7,8,9th grade teams, or if they even field a team in those grades. Not a certainty, but a good indicator.

Fairly accurate week for me as i picked all 6 games correctly with the general idea of the scores about right.
What we learned from this week......
BMHS is a machine on offense theyre looking tough to beat
Johnstown and Richland can reallly really be explosive too.
Westy Somerset and BC are who we thought they were
The Rangers either got things corrected or Bedford is that bad.
Zak Newton is a force to be reckoned with nothing that we didnt already know...
CC may have a lot of "heart" but they have nowhere near the talent theyve enjoyed the past few years.
Heights is almost assured of being 0-10

Bedford is that bad. I've never seen a team look so uninspired before a game vs. a rival. They looked as if their mindset was "alright let's go take our a$$-whooping and go home". Pathetic.

It's been a waterfall effect for a long time coming now.

The class of 2007 was the last group to come through that had a good 7th grade coaching staff and junior high coaching staff. Not dad's following their kids from flag as high as they can go, looking out for the interest in their own kids.

The expiration of a HUGE run of superior athletes has ended too. From about 1999-2007 Bedford was blessed with size, speed, and toughness. None of that exists anymore in the amounts that it did in those previous years.

Not having a consistent head man at the top since Max Shoemaker was forced out never helps either.

That is about as spot-on a response as you can get..........as for talented classes, I think you're going to see one, but it will be about 4 more years (the sixth grade is immensely talented).

The youth league has been going GREAT, and 2 of our 5th/6th grade teams are undefeated. Our 3rd/4th are still getting used to the league/game, but one team is 1-1, so they're doing well. The youth league has excellent coaching top-to-bottom, so I think you'll see that payoff someday---not in the near future, but 4-5 years from now. It seems from what I've seen the 6th grade class is immensely talented, and the 3rd grade class has some athletes (I'm only speaking from the youth league, hence the inclusion of 3rd grade). Even the flag level has quite a few little kids that show some serious promise. The downside is all these kids are so young, so you won't see the payoff any time soon.

Someone else might be able to elaborate, but I thought I heard that the 10th grade kids are a pretty good class?? I know they have a QB that everyone talks about, and a couple other talented kids.

ham, the run really went from about 1982-2007. Bedford had loads of talent pre 1999. Williams, Washington, Marshall, the Benbows, Blevins, the Cottle Brothers, Borosky, Koontz and Brambly, and Caro just to name a few pre 1999.
