Re: Bedford vs. CR II
They may be better then they showed. Going into the game I hadn't seen CR and thought they might have a better team then Bedford. After seeing the game I just think Bedford has better TEAM. I don't really see anywhere on the field I would give CR a distinct advantage and I think Bedford does hold that in a key position. As far as the turnovers I think Bedford finished plus two. They are part of the game as is tackling. But really southy I'm not sure I follow what you are saying. Did CR beat themselves? Or did Bedford play a good game and beat them? Or is it the old, "The refs ripped us off." haha. joke That's for my CR family on this site.
Re: Bedford vs. CR II
2 of those 5 turnovers were supreme athletic plays by Bedford's Curt Crawford on his INT and then by Jordan Deasey on his strip on the kick-off.southpaw wrote:I think Ridge is a better team than they showed. What did they have 5 turnovers? How many missed tackles?
I don't think CR has the talent @ LB to keep up with Bedford for a whole game. Shippey ran like a man possessed on Friday, and I'd look for continuation of that. Ridge's DE's really struggled Friday. And they better come prepared to play better than that if they want to control Bedford on Thursday.
Either way it should be a good atmosphere and even better weather for the game Thursday. What is this, 2 game's in a row without rain? Thank God we're out of October.

Speaking of refs. Somebody at the radio station really needs to get Topper under control. He is way, way, to emotional and one sided for the radio. I had several people talk to me about his bias and language on the radio last week.
We shall see on Thursday if Bedford is really better than Ridge. I hope Ridge's apparent deficiencies can be corrected schematically. Bedford did play and excellent game. The turnovers did play a role but I'm not saying that to take anything away from Bedford's performance.

I had people talk to me about Topper earlier in the year. Completely out of control and upsetting a lot of people a lot of places apparently.
I think this will be a terrific game Thursday night.
And for the people who think 5/6 should be combined. As I explained in another post, D5 IS COMBINED. What don't you people get? This is in reality a quarterfinal just like the 6-AA games this weekend are quarterfinals. 5 is combined with 8 and 9 for a subregional. Why should 5 go with 6 and make an even bigger district when 8 and 9 combined would only have 6 or 7 teams?? Doesn't it make sense to keep D6 at their current # and lump D5 with the two smaller Western districts? It's nice that the brackets can be worked so that a D5 'championship' game can happen, but in reality it's a subregional quarterfinal.

Good points HR. To clarify on the Topper radio comment. I know him and he's a great individual and very passionatle about Bedford athletics.

Its too bad that D5 can't come together and form an all sports conference for all schools in the district. It would give D5 its own identity and create alot of local interest and rivalries. Instead D5 has schools in 3 conferences and one that's independent in football. To me its the next logica step since D5 stood up to D6 and formed its own football championship.

In that case who do you propose that Bedford and CR play in football. I am not in favor of playing a A schedule in football.

Re: Bedford vs. CR II
Both are in D5. All 12 D5 schools should play each other. We are going to A whether its next year of two years from now. Look at the big picture. In most other sports A or AA doesn't matter. Wrestling, Track, and CC are all AA.
In the long and big picture view what does it matter? If Bedford wants to play a AA schedule they can petition to join D6 just as Somerset did years ago. I think Somerset wants out of D6 as they are AA in football and wrestling and headed that way in track.
Seriously that maybe the best solution for Bedford.
Don't let football cloud the vision of what could be the best thing overall for D5. Otherwise if we are going to continue to play in leagues that are primarily dominated by D6 schools why not just ask the PIAA to make D5 and D6 one big district?

Southy. Really Ridge has a chance of being single A? I heard the numbers there were decreasing in the school district so I guess that is true then. Any chance it being this cycle? When will the new classifications or the numbers be announced or released? Will they have a chance of staying single A then for a while?

Re: Bedford vs. CR II
The cutoff numbers are a moving target every year. This cycle? Don't know. Next? More likely. Our female numbers would DEFINETLY put is in "A" but we have about 25 more boys than girls in this cycle. Girls volleyball should be "A" next year.
