what about the big east?...6 outta 8 is not too shabby as well

It shall be interesting to see which one gets more bowl bids. Which is where the wonderful thing of attendance is really important!

What I think is funny about Pitt fans is that they claim attendance doesn't matter but yet they have a post about the game possibly being sold out. My favorite response in this is SeanMillerFan's
http://pittsburgh.rivals.com/showmsg.as ... 96&style=2
Then they make fun of Cincy's fan base for only having 21 fans on their internet site during big eat championship week in another post.
I thoroughly enjoy stopping by that board. On any given day there are normally 6-8 Penn State Posts. It's like finding an Ex Girlfriends diary who still talks and thinks about you even tho she never sees or hangs out with you. Great times.

It's hard to explain why the game isn't sold out right now. It happens though. Last March 17th, Penn State hosted the first round of the NIT at the Bryce Jordon Center. PSU ended up playing George Mason University in front of 5,549 people. The BJC holds 15,261 for PSU basketball. Where were the fans???? It wasn't spring break. The weather was good. PSU undoubtedly had their best season in many years, their best showing in the Big Ten Conference. Where were the fans??? Hung over from St. Patrick's Day??? Kind of embarrassing when your B-Ball game is on national TV and your arena is 1/3 full for a post season tournament game. Maybe PSU fans should worry about their own house, not others.

I think most Penn State fans will admit that they have a very poor fanbase for basketball and that part of building a program that will compete year in and year out you won't do it with 5,000 fans at a game. If I'm a top basketballrecruit and I go to a Penn State basketball game and see the atmosphere I probably don't want to play there. Likewise, If I am a top football recruit and go to a Pitt football game and see the atmosphere, I probably don't want to go there.El-Moldo wrote:It's hard to explain why the game isn't sold out right now. Titan,
Newsflash, dorkus: You ain't playing in a "championship game". It just so happened that Cincy and Pitt were on eachother's schedules in the last week of the season.
This thread is hilarious.

They were bummed about not making the tournament because of our terrible OOC schedule.
There were moments last year that showed signs of hope. As a PSU bball fan though, we aren't constantly comparing ourselves to Pitt bball. It is known. We aren't as good as Pitt by any stretch of the imagination. It wasn't too awful long ago that Pitt was down in that sport too. I went to a game when Vonteego Cummings was the big dog and PSU could beat them 50/50 in their matchups.
Comparing an NIT game to a Big East championship game in football is  .

Re: Is Pitt playing for the Big East title this weekend???
Considering PSU's past basketball history, hosting a first round NIT game WAS a big deal for them last year, considering the year that they had. So everyone stayed in their apartments and dorms and missed a great game that went into overtime. They finally crawled out from under their rocks when PSU made it to the semi-finals. How fickle is that??? The Pitt attendance will be fine for the game on Saturday. Again, PSU should worry about their own problems.

Yes, the attendance will be fine when the tickets are $3 dollars on eBay and the Cincinnati parents decide they might as well drive over there.
Seriously, there are non-BCS programs with better fans than Pitt's. Or Cincinnati's.

Name some. And by the way, why wouldn't parents be there anyway?

Oh yeah..I forgot about how the fans traveled to NYC in over 30 buses for the final four there and the eventual championship game.
