Coach Joe Paterno: The Savior of Pitt
Re: Coach Joe Paterno: The Savior of Pitt
Notre Dame and Georgetown are also not in the Big East for all sports. The first true Big East teams comes after 6 Big Ten teams.
I am not saying that educationally there is anything wrong with certain Big East schools. In all honesty, I have always been a fan of Pitt's academics and I am trying to talk a younger family member into considering them. But to think that joining the Big Ten would not be an academic upgrade is being quite naive.

Pitt and Rutgers are both great schools with great academic research. But there is simply no comparison to the benefits of the Big Ten versus those of the Big East. Schools want to associate with other great academic schools. Not just sell men's lacrosse tickets.
Every single sport at Pitt or Rutgers will accelerate, however, by the guaranteed home games versus those Big Ten schools. You simply cannot match a home game versus Cincinnati against one with Ohio State.
There are a million reasons why Pitt should already be begging the Big Ten.
