I know I brought Texas up....but I do agree with others that it's rather funny....yet I read about Texas all over the place with all of the expansion/domino affect speculation that is out there now. I've seen Texas associated with the B10, Pac-10, and going independent with their own TV contract....almost as if someone/somewhere views Texas as the Notre Dame of the Southwest or something.

Well, there's a lot of Texas fans that would like to see them go independent. However, I don't believe anyone in the administration really wants that. Also, if Texas leaves the Big 12, Texas A&M comes along. Trust me. You can't have one without the other. The only way I see Texas going anywhere is if the Big 12 loses multiple teams. If that doesn't happen, I don't see them going anywhere. It's always fun to speculate, though.

Texas is a wealthy university, and COULD join the Big Ten, but I think we all know that will never happen. Would be quite a monkeywrench in college football though.

The number of sports teams maintained for Men and Women by the 11 existing Big Ten schools and the schools getting the most consideration as a potential 12th member. The quality of those teams are not measured here and club teams have not been counted.
