He did well for Jtown. But while Jtown do well with out him. His legacy is a man who used questionable ethics to get money for a town that probably should have been allowed to go by the wayside, but he saved the town. Well, maybe not saved just put it on life support for awhile. I can almost hear that sucking sound from here in Washington, as everything begins to leave Johnstown.

Maybe keeping Jtown on the government teet did more harm than good. It didn't allow profitable enterprises to establish in an area that provided a strong work ethic with reasonable wages. Instead, it kept the labor force reliant on government subsidies and profitable companies that could compete for that workforce out.
It will take years for Jtown to recover once that government money dries up. Good luck. I truly mean that. If Jtown does recover after that, it will be a stronger town because of it.

Ditto Ridge Dad. Murtha used "questionable" ethics for Jtown money? He was a crook, liar, and a cheat. Should have been in jail. Then the bum turned traitor to this country. Then called his constituents bigots. Real swell guy. Jtown gets what is deserves for electing that potlicker to Congress for 40 years. Sorry if this is offensive but I tried to keep in nice in my earlier post but I can't let revisionist history go unchallenged.

How exactly does Murtha bringing government money here keep private enterprise from florishing? And I love these people who think Murtha just 'stole' your tax money. All of the defense money spent here would be spent somewhere in the country. The man is directly responsible for several thousand good-paying jobs in the region, which have benefitted everyone in the region, directly or indirectly. How is this a bad thing? It is not his fault that there has been little private investment in the area. It is not his fault that some of these defense contractors took the money they made and built shrines for themselves instead of investing in self-sustaining business, or other business lines. He provided great opportunity for this area, but we need to do somethings for ourselves if we want to survive. And as far as the country, Murtha played a huge part in keeping our military strong. Don't you think the other greedy politiciains would have picked the defense budget clean for their own interests if given the chance. We owe our national safety to people like Mr. Murtha who have fought to keep or military funded.
People that complain about Murtha, and then keep electing that crook Wozniak boggle my mind.

What does everyone think about Mrs. Murtha possibly going after his seat? Hey, maybe Bobby Cox's wife can succeed her husband as manager of the Braves. Same difference.
