Here's the problem I have with wicked. He keeps questioning McCort "bringing up NUMEROUS transfers after 9th grade" into BM's athletic programs. As we have mentioned in the past, it doesn't take NUMEROUS transfers to make a difference in a team. It often only takes ONE to put the icing on the cake for a certain sport. For example, Merriman ( who wallpaper admitted came to McCort for athletics ) was a two way starter for McCort. He alone made up approximately 10% of McCort's offensive and defensive starters during BM's playoff run last season. Obviously he was a good player, as NO OTHER player on McCort's team started ahead of him. He was better than anyone else McCort had on their roster. This easily was the icing on the cake for BM's team. So you see, NUMEROUS players did not have to make a difference. Just ONE was enough, a kid who shouldn't have been there if Salem would have had the cajones to say NO to his admittance to McCort. Instead, Salem was licking his chops when Merriman showed up for his interview concerning going to school at Osbourne Street. So everyone can see how JUST ONE kid can make a difference. A Lenhart, a Bealonis, a Wadley, a Gates, a Dill, a Bruce, and others who only played supporting roles in McCort athletics. You don't have to be a star to make a difference either. And that's the way it is.

El-Moldo, you are right! At least you are one of the few that realize that McCort does not benefit from NUMEROUS transfers. Thus, it would be great that the rest would not make it appear that numerous transfers are the norm. One here on there, but not numerous.

USATF, freshman transfers can make an impact. The loss of a freshman probably has more of a current impact (negative) on a smaller school than what creates a current impact (positive) on McCort. However, it's the nature of the current situation - McCort has no boundries (i.e. school district) But it is not blatant recruiting or transfers after the freshman year.

Positives = no boundries Negatives = tuition

Note: If tuition was not a consideration, would McCort's enrollment be declining? Imagine if for the next ten years McCort decided not to charge.

I don't understand why tuition is a negative, when one of McCort's selling points is that their students get millions of dollars every year in college scholarships. Wouldn't a parent want to be part of that?????? Isn't that a trade-off for the parents? And what about those alumni scholarships McCort is famous for, or reductions in tuition at McCort with financial aid that is mentioned in their ads? Almost like a positive if you ask me. The kid gets to play with a good supporting cast in high school, and then gets a college scholarship ta' boot. Can't beat that. And also the free transportation to and from school courtesy of the public school system. Sounding better and better to me all the time.

El-Moldo, once again you are right they are points made to all applicants athletic or not. Those are also points that I have seen you argue vehemently against on BC. But you did this so nicely, that I almost thought that you were promoting McCort.

Summary of your last two posts: 1. McCort does not get numerous transfers after freshman year
2. Attending McCort will pay for itself in future scholarship money.

Ok wicked you agree ninth graders can make an impact.Back to the start of this subject.I would say 3 good 9th graders coming into a single "A" program from other schools is a good recruiting year so far.Assuming of course the person who said this has the facts straight.

USATF, I wouldn't call it a good recruiting year. I'd call it a good signing year.

Getting back to wicked a few posts ago:
1) AGAIN, it doesn't take NUMEREOUS transfers to tilt the playing field in sports. Just a few per team is all it takes.
2) And concerning local athletes getting scholarships: This year BM had 2 players get I-aa football scholarships, costing them each over $20,000 in high school expenses. FH received 2 also, at the cost of NOTHING to play high school football. So it's all in how you look at it.
