Psycho you can taunt all you want.As far as coaching or expierience competing I would gladly compare resumes with you any day.You sir have little clue about what sports is really about. In your world it is an elitist activity reserved for just a few.As far as fairness and classifications you have even less of a clue.Keep on ranting about your consolidation theories while the rest of the world tries to improve the current system!

Both of you are right. It is certainly unfair that private schools can "recruit" players from all over the county. But physcos right in the fact that no matter who they recruit they are still human, in other words you just gotta man up and beat them. They arent recruting 20 year olds for highschool bball, kids on every team are the same age.

Sometimes you just gotta be competitive and beat these "recruiters" (like many public schools do) instead of giving up and whining about it

More of the B.G. bashing with the recruiting and all that. Here is the starting 5 (pretty much the five who played all year too by the way) and where they live and who their families are....
1) A. Williams- lives in Altoona and mother was bg grad who played there. Not sure on dad.
2) K. Floyd- family lives in Altoona
3) H. Adams- both parents bg grads and live in Altoona. (Dad was D-1 quarterback at Rutgers)
4) K. Livoti- family lives in Altoona
5) E. Ehredt- both parents BG grads and comes from very athletic family on both sides.

5 main players all from Altoona, all families have BG ties. Maybe because girls in Altoona play non stop all year, have great coaching, and have good blood lines is why they win all the dang time.

...and Altoona is the 18th largest school district of the 500 districts in the state, so you've pulled five highly skilled, well trained young ladies from this highly populated area and have them playing Class A basketball.

Lets do this. Let BG and all the other privates play Quad A. Then we can eliminate all these posts. As long as the current system stays as it is, we will not compete with the privates on a year to year basis. That's the point everyone is missing. There are very few public schools in the state where you can say year in and year out. We'll be back in the state finals next year. It's not happening. Northern Cambria was the one abberation. And guess what? It will be a long long time till you see Northern Cambria back at PSU. Can you say the same for BG and York Catholic and Villa Maria. Lets say it right now, they will all be back at PSU next year.

psycho,
Not only do you have low self-esteem which explains why you insult those who wish to debate your statements, but you are also the biggest hypocrite I have ever seen on this board. Out of one side of your mouth, you want all of the little schools to quit "complaining" and just get better and beat private schools. Out of the other, you want schools to consolidate so that your beloved Johnstown High can actually win a game against a real AAA team like back in the old days. Its actually comical that since Johnstown isn't what it used to be back in the 1950s, you take out your frustration by insulting parents and fans of the smaller schools. Whatever makes you feel better, old pal.

Just one question though - so what will you be doing at the Sr. Showcase? Will you be watching a bunch of private school basketball kids from our area who regularly beat the crap out of everyone else yet have absolutely no chance of going to college to play basketball unless they go to the NCAA version of an "A" school??? Or are you going to actually tell us that you know someone who knows someone who knows someone which makes you a big deal which is why you'll be sitting in the bleachers.

V-man, please call 911. For everyone's sake.

If you fix the "classification" issue, the "recruiting" issue, for all intents and purposes, goes away (except in the most blatant of circumstances). Parents should be allowed to send their kids to whatever school they want. But schools should NOT be allowed to pull kids from multiple school districts or large population areas and play Class A basketball. The only way this ever gets fixed is if the public school people forget about the "alleged recruiting" and sing with one voice about a fairer way to classify schools.

Let's start here:
> If five kids from the Harmony school district attend Bishop Carroll they count as five kids enrollmentwise.
> If Cambria Heights has a co-op program with Harmony and five Harmony kids go out for football then every Harmony male student counts enrollmentwise.
That's a slam dunk win if someone files the lawsuit, but, of course, no public school has the money to pursue such a case.

Furthermore, no elected public official, i.e. school board member, no matter how radical is going to go out on a limb and file such a petition. They typically form their agendas around more pragmatic concerns such as education and taxes. I am sure some have attempted something along these lines at some point, but more rational heads most likely prevailed.

Consequently, this is quite the opposite of private schools who are more easily swayed by big dollars, and the personal agendas of their "silent" donors. Have you ever wondered why the private schools lobbied so hard to gain admission into the PIAA, rather than to focus their efforts on increasing their educational standards like the rest of the world. It is because their base doesn't care about education, they just care about getting another "trophy". You never see a new school or classroom upgrades in the paper, its always "...check out our locker rooms and trophy cases".

Hey Syd,

Great point. We'll see how they argue around that one. I'm sure it would be impossible for those private schools to add up all those big numbers.

If many of the co-op single As completely merged, they'd still be considered small A schools.
