Most of the .500 teams play tough ppl all year to get ready for the playoffs.....

I played on a team with a losing record back in the early 90s and we slipped into the 8 spot in the playoffs. We ended up upsetting the #1 and #3 or 4 teams and played for a District Championship. I know it doesn't always happen that way but you just never know.

Should we really complain if a sub 500 team makes the playoffs? If the teams that are above 500 are worth their salt they should handle these teams easily.Plus it is extra bucks for the cash strapped districts by having more playoff games!
Re: why sub-par .500 teams shouldn't make playoffs
That's why they play the games. Some teams are around .500 prior to playoff seed cutoff dates, but maybe due to players on injury from football coming back, they start a run going into the playoffs. Some top seeds get a little full of themselves and think they are GOD's gift to the hardwood, and some team with nothing to lose knocks their ____in the dirt. It happens every season. I'm sure most if not all of you reading this has seen "HOOSIERS".
It ain't over until it's over.

i think some below 500 teams should play playoffs, why not give the kids more opportunities to play and there has been upsets in the past.

Bishop Carroll entered the playoffs several years ago with a 9-13 record and won the District 6 title.

Yah, that is 1 team out of 25 that has an upset like that! Shade played meyersdale tonight and was up like 40-7 at half and blew them out with a running clock. Who wants to watch a game like that? Meyersdale is 7-13 and has no right to be in a playoff game. Playoff teams should be 500 or better or stay home, because 90% of the time in high school the higher ranked team wins when they play a 7-13 team!!! I could see a 500 team upset a top seed especially if the team is from a tougher conference than the high seed who's conf. is weaker. If all teams were from the same conferences then the rankings would be right because they all would play the same teams in that conference.

again if BC is 9-13 in the LHAc, whats to say they wouldn't be 16-6 in the Heritage or Westpac. They play a tougher schedule. Thats a fact. Thats why I like how District 7 does it. They take into consideration to how good the team is rather than just a point scale. Clairton is a 9 seed with a 9-10. They had a slow start due to football, but they have good athletes and the tournament commitee gave them a 9 seed because they knew they could compete.
