Joe gets stuffed after his death and rolled out to the sidelines every week. He'll still be the figurehead of the team and the 1960s offensive beat will roll on. Maybe he's already dead and we just don't know it?

Only coach in America that doesn't have to answer to someone. Results don't matter. How he can look in the mirror everyday and feel like he is doing what is best for the program is beyond me.

In case you haven't read it yet, here is a good article from the Altoona Mirror that sums up the Penn State football situation pretty well.

The thing of it is, the only team left on the schedule that Penn State has no chance of beating talent wise is Wisconsin in week 13. Iowa is down and should be beat, Purdue is dreadful and should be a cake walk, Northwestern should never compete with Penn State, Illinois is at home but should pose a challenge, Nebraska has shown they are beatable by struggling through some OOC games and then being bullied by the Badgers, and did Ohio State even have 100 yds of offense at home last week against MSU?
If our team would have moved in the right direction from week 1-5, I would say this is setting up to be a potentially magical season. The thing is I see them maybe beating Iowa and Purdue, losing to NW and Illinois, and splitting with Nebraska and Ohio State. That is my best case scenario. That puts PSU at 7-5 with the loss at Wisconsin when in reality they should be 10-2. This week against Iowa is a huge game and IMO is the first true measuring stick game for the Nittany Lions. Alabama was like Wisconsin in the fact that there was no chance of competing in that game. If Penn State can get a win this week and next against Purdue that will give them some momentum heading to Northwestern and a chance to be 7-1 heading into those difficult final 4 weeks. The sad thing is I see them potentially being 4-3 going into those games.

Read in the mirror today that the quarterbacks aren't allowed to audible at the line of scrimmage. What?????? Junior high programs do that.

Why would they have to audible? The coaches always call the perfect play.
Joe still coaching would be the equivalant of Magic Johnson still being the starting point guard for the lakers. Terry Bradshaw Qb'ing the Steelers. Marv Leavy still coaching the bills. At some point, you need to realize there are better people than you for the position no matter how much you love it.
