WJAC Game of the Week: Week 10

Thank you all for the input. This is the last week of the Game of the Week voting for this season. There is nothing we can do about the current format of the poll but there are certain limitations we can put on the voting. I appreciate your input and concerns, and hopefully, we can make this better for the 2012 season.

it just didnt make sense to go from the old format of one voter per ip address to unlimited voting where these kids can go out and dowload a voting bot and plug in your site and vote for one team unlimited without even being at the computer, also, why not have a d5 playoff team instead of brockway. lol well figured i would just check the numbers, over 70,000 votes and 37k by a team 3 and a half hours away or 164 miles from here. come on guys LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL.... i hear virginia has some good games too. wonder how big of an area you would need to actually encompass the 70k votes on there so far, should hit 150k by thursday.

Once again, the poll change was not our decision. We have to adjust to the new system just like everyone else does. Was the old system good? Yes. Did it prevent people from voting like crazy? No. There is always going to be a way around it. That's the nature of the beast.

As far as the "local" complaints, Brockway is just as local to the people who live in the District 9 region as Forest Hills is to the people that live in District 6. Our coverage area which we are responsible for goes from the Maryland border to near the New York border. That's a lot of area. It may not be considered important to someone who lives in Meyersdale, but it is important to the people that live near DuBois. We have to take all of that into consideration. Our Game of the Week was in District 5 last week. We try to space out our coverage as much as possible.

i will give you brockway at 93 miles away could be considered local. the other is 193 miles away from jtown and 90 from buffalo n.y. Your gonna get it as game so no need to take this any further, their bot is 6000 votes ahead so thats what we get. wjac should just pick the game they feel is the best for the area instead of letting those who want to sit at the computer all day pick it for us. you really think that game with 40k votes would win out against a jtown vs. fh game with people getting one vote? like i said, its decided, they are gonna address it and next week we will see who gets their bot voting first to see who the few chose for the game to be.

Hey Johnstown folks complaining about North-Central PA Coverage,

Due to your proximity to the main affiliate location, you are covered much more than many other areas, which are also under WJAC coverage area. WJAC does a pretty good job of trying to spread it out. If anything, I think it should be spread out more in other sports but in this economic climate, it is much easier for them to travel to closer contests.

Think about how lucky we are though to have a Johnstown-Altoona based affiliate. The main stations could have said there is no need for such an affiliate and just had Pittsburgh stations cover Johnstown and then put the next PA affiliate in central-east PA. Then this area would get pretty much no coverage, which happens in some parts.

Can I just say I voted 47,000 times for the Jtown vs FH game? Rather than sitting here and clicking "VOTE" 47,000 times?

Because this is the last week before the postseason begins for all teams, this is the last week of the poll for this season. Obviously there is a lot of input/ideas/thoughts we're going to take into consideration to make the poll better and more fair for next season. In the meantime, 6 Sports will have all playoff and championship games, plus some other pretty big week 10 games tomorrow night on the Friday Football Final.

While you're at it, maybe your bosses can get their collective heads out of their.....wallets and re-hire Mr. Tim Rigby. No offense to you personally Mr. Maisel, but Rigby is a legend. If you want to get rid of someone, I nominate Radovanic. What is he, minority owner?

You know Manfred I thought that initially as well but then had a change of heart. When is the last time you saw Tim Rigby out covering any game? Matt Maisel runs his backside off and Tim Rigby sits in his chair. Now, I guess you can say he paid his dues or you can make the argument that big time sportscasters do not cover anything on their own but to make that comparison is a stretch at best.

Honestly, when is the last time you saw Tim Rigby at any sporting event? Years and years ago. I see Maisel all over the place. I'd rather have the hard-working guy that comes down and mingles with us common folks.
