slapstick, were they scared or did they know they screwed up. If the refs can't control the game they shouldn't have been doing the game in the first place. Was it a surprise to anyone that a TM/ Everett game could get out of hand. I wonder who is responsible for hiring those refs. Oh... maybe Koontz.
EHSCheerleader, you're right Everett did win the game by 5. I'm not going to say TM lost the game because of officiating. Momentum had already swung Everetts way. But I do disagree on your comment that both teams played extremely well. I thought both teams played poor. Way too many turnovers from both teams.

SO Koontx and Waltman had to come over to the scorers table and ask Coach bailey to settle down?? WHo were the Refs from Somerset County that did the game?? I have heard of an invertent whistle in Football but never in Basketball. WHat happened in that situation?? Coach Bailey was very complimentary in the paper and could of had some quotes about the whistle situation. That showed alot of class on his part. He was very complimentary towards Everett.

noname, With about 3 and 1/2 minutes to go in the game and the score tied, Zimmerman got trapped at half court. I thought he was fouled, I'm sure some others didn't see it that way. But regardless, a whistle blew, loud and clear, everything stopped for a second then Miller came out of the pack with the ball and went in for an uncontested layup. From there it was wild. I was sitting behind the TM bench and could get an idea of what was going on at the scorers table. Things were crazy with noone knowing what to do. Mr. Koontz came over and did, I repeat DID, get involved in the events at the scorers table. After it was over TM was charged with a timeout, Everett credited with the basket and TM bringing the ball in under Everett's basket.
I don't know who the refs were. I never seen them before. I question why in a game of such magnitude there wasn't a 3 man crew.

Noname referred to the article in the paper and Bailey's quotes.
Knowing Bailey as many of us do, I am sure he had plenty to say about the referees and the whistle. Mr. Brode probably had to be creative and choose what all to put in his article. Doubtful he wanted to show his alumnus status from TM knowing the Everett faithful would be reading the take on the game too.
He may have failed the county readership by his version of the events and should keep his daytime job.
