Seriously, do you think they are going to get one of those high profile guys or one of the NFL names that have been dropped anonymously (Cowher, Dungy)? They are facing upwards of hundreds of millions of dollars in lawsuits, and they are going to pay 3 or 4 million a year for a guy like Dungy, Cowher, Miles, or Richt? And what would make any of those guys want to come to PSU when they have all accomplished all they can (except for Richt) and start a program from scratch? I think you are all are in for a big letdown.

All sorts of smoke screens and rumors. I feel however the "rumors" for a big name like a Gruden or Saban are just people dreaming of past glory. I heard a name from an inside source before Christmas and again hearing it today. Be ready to be underwhelmed my money is on Greg Schiano from Rutgers to be the next coach for PSU. Guaranteed the Alumni and Nit Club won't be thrilled by that hire. Seems like a decent guy but is only .500 at Rutgers, coached at Penn State under Sandusky and his teams are about as boring as Penn State too watch. He had a good run with Ray Rice but that's it. I can see a Schiano hire do one thing immeadiatley...Season tickets donations to nit club will be canceled by the thousands. Who want to pay $500-600 a year per ticket donation for a .500 Rutgers coach? With that hire State had better rethink expectations and that means the nit club had better rethink their "donations".

My Nephew plays football at Rutgers for Schiano and according to what he is telling and has told his players at Rutgers he is not even entertaining the Penn State thing. This is what the man told his players.

I'm a wrestling nut and I was literally floored 3 years ago when Cael was hired...that was the equivilant of Saban or Belicheck.....Rec Hall holds 6200...Beaver Stadium funds the sports programs...with the shrinking state money available and legal fees looming...you really think they won't swing for the fence?

Let me say this Southpaw that Coach Schiano has revitalized that program and it takes a special person to do what he did at Rutgers. He rode the bad times and turned that program around. Might not be flashy, but they have been a consistent winner the last 7 years minus last years season. The thing you have to remember about last year is when Eric LeGrand was injuried and became paralyzed, and not making excuses, really affected the mentality of that team. I saw it first hand with my nephew. Sorry to get off track here, but Schiano would be a great hire at Penn State but he told his players he was staying. But, the day before he was officially introduced at Ohio State I believe Meyers denied even talking to Ohio State officials.

Say_oww so your solution to pay for the 100's of millions of lawsuits would be to hire a coach no one knows, deemphasize football, have a 107,000 seat stadium look like a Pitt game. That will bring in the cash.

I think PSU is going to give the big F U to people who are making the entire University to be scapegoats of a few (One of which was no longer employed by the University) There might be one or two coaches who are F'ed off on how Joepa was made the scapegoat in this and want to uphold the legacy of the school he built. All it takes is one coach.

I agree with coach that this " waiting" to hire someone could mean that a bigger name might be taking this job. I also just heard today the Saban rumor. He is from WV and might want to come back North. No expert by any means but I would be shocked if someone wasn't hired by next Monday.

It is still Penn State, they will get someone. I like Doc Holliday from Marshall, for the simple fact the he can recruit. That is what PSU needs. They are either going after a big name, or a young up incoming coach.

Say Oww is WPIAL's secretary. He has the exact same amount of hatred to Penn State, he just has taken stupidity to another level.

I'm intrigued by these rumors and the situation. Talked with a guy today who's brother is on the BOT. He says Munchak was their guy from day one. He followed this up by saying he keeps hearing Saban. I thought it was completely crazy and then I started to think about the ego's involved and how hard it is to stay at the top. Saban has never stayed in one place too long. I would still be shocked, but it isn't as crazy to me as it was when I heard the rumor a while back.
