I know for certain that bedford voted for nbc's jr high coach.
A disappointment for me at D5 tonight...
Okay. Well then I guess more people voted for Corle.

i feel the same way, i do not think creps deserved it because berlin pretty much beat the except for the forfeit that gave bedford the win. but lazer deserves it. cr had one heck of a district tourney

There were many seasons the CR jr. high went undefeated and Coach Corle did not receive the coach of the year award. CR JR. high won Mtn Conference and the Huntingdon Tournament and I think NBC was there also? There are alot of things you have to take into consideration in this award not just being undefeated but how you fare in these tournaments play a big part of it.

I've seen the similar comments made on Cornell before and I don't understand them. Berlin finished 7th at districts and has just 2 wrestlers advancing to Johnstown and had another place 4th. They barely even qualified for district duals, just getting the 8th seed when Hyndman lost to Everett on the last day of qualifying. Then against Bedford they won the coin toss, if they lose that then the match with Bedford wouldn't have been close. I get that the program was on life support a few years ago, but Craig came into the program already as an elite wrestler (he was Mountain Conference jr. high outstanding wrestler), as did Fochtman. Perhaps with the Fochtmans and Swank the Berlin jr. high coaches should be the ones to get some recognition, they beat CR during the regular season while giving up SEVEN forfeits.fsufootball33 wrote:i feel the same way, i do not think creps deserved it because berlin pretty much beat the except for the forfeit that gave bedford the win. but lazer deserves it. cr had one heck of a district tourney
I could have sworn that I saw a post regarding Bedford/Brett behavior at Windber, but I can't find it now. Did that thread get yanked?

I believe it got yanked odoyle. It didn't mention any names just Bedford and Creps in general. I believe all unwarrented especially when I saw issues from other teams over the weekend.
I agree to say Cornell deserves the coach of the year award is insane. His kids wrestle hard and are physical but not a team with a coach deserving COY award.

insane? to say that what creps does is called coaching is what's insane. the man fell **** backwards into that position, which there's no way he would've gotten w/o his dad being who he is. let's be honest. I'll agree that lazor is a great coach, but both bedford and ridge have had awesome jr. high teams long before either of them started coaching. so taking a program that's already a powerhouse and keeping them there, in my opinion, is not worthy of coach of the year. I'm pretty sure when berlin's varsity was deserted by lorson and could barely get 5 kids on their team, their jr. high was equally dismal. So Cornell is the one to thank for building that entire program back up from jr.high to varsity. it's a shame that so many think that the coach of the winning d5 tourny team is the only one that could possibly be the best coach of the year..... haha, insane?...that still makes me laugh...I guess that's why we are all BleacherCoaches!

Bump- I prob. shouldn't have used the word insane. I was just trying to make a point. This is my thinking. D-5 is prob as strong top to bottom as it ever has been. So to say Cornell should be COY because his team almost beat Bedford does not hold water with me. They finished regular season ranked 8th in D-5 and finished the post-season indy tournament in 7th place. When you have a 12 team district that is just not good enough to garner COY. Meyersdale finished better then them in both. Sines is doing a great job there. NBC Duchcoct?sp?? I think had a really good year also for all they lost last year. I hear great things about him also. But I still don't feel either of these guys deserved COY this year either. With your arguements you want to give a guy like Creps 0% of the credit and Cornell 100% of the credit for his team. Neither of those are right. Regardless of how you feel Creps is doing something right to keep his team at or near the top for so long. Cornell has been doing a good job but like all the other coaches having success it's team success and the product of lots of people doing the right things.
My opinion on this years COY award. I think it came down to two guys. Creps and Lazor. Creps undefeated regular season wins DD's and a top 6 finish in the state yet again while finishing 2nd in the district indy tournament. Lazor good dual meet season finished 2nd at DD's and 1st in the indy tournament. Creps 2-0 head to head this year against Lazor.
My vote would go to Lazor. This is why. Looking at where he led his team from in that first match against Bedford to the DD finals and the nail biter there, plus coming in and wrestling the best of anyone at this past weekends district tourny. Lazor his kids and staff earned that COY award. No doubt!!
Roberts also clearly the guy to win OW this year. I like OW going to career achievment guy or someone coming through a really tough weight. Not like sometimes how OW is given out in our District.
