A) I was at a picnic with him a few weeks before the season and he was being asked about wrestling. Didn't give any indication that he would not be wrestling. I was told that coaches (obviously) tried to talk him into coming out for the team but didn't have any luck.

F)/G) I think Coach Sines' schedule makes it difficult for him. I tried to talk to him today about his upper weights, but couldn't get a time set up to talk with him.

J) I would think that the Mountaineer Duals will be much stronger next year. Coach Cornell talked about how difficult it was to get commitments this season but felt that others will be on board next year. Schedules fluctuate as far as when teams wrestle, so the odds of it being two days before the duals aren't good, but even if it is, an improved field would likely keep them from looking ahead to a potential finals matchup. Also, if my scenario in the next answer happens, it likely would boost the Mountaineer Duals.

K) Sounds like Richland Duals may change to the Richland Tournament, and Coach Naglic would like to make it an elite-level tournament. This could: 1. Eliminate some of the local squads in favor of teams from out of the area. 2. Turn it into the tournament that some have clamored on another thread for the Thomas tournament to become.
Getting a great field is no easy task, but Richland has excellent facilities, although they were much better suited to a dual-meet tournament (four gyms is perfect for that, not practical for an individual tournament).

O) Doubt if a chat will happen Thursday night if Ryan isn't doing it. My plan is to take in Blairsville-Westmont Thursday night. I do hope to do a podcast on www.tribdem.com tomorrow previewing the Thomas tournament and again plan to do a chat/live web stream from Bedford. I will add a word of warning, however, my new job means that wrestling doesn't always take precedent, so if something comes up in it, I might not be there all day on Friday. But as of now, I plan on starting the live stream on Friday morning.

I don't mean to ambush your subject Odoyelrules, but since it's titled Questions I do have one of my own. I noticed last night at Ridge's match, Dibert wrestled 170 and Bollman bumped up to 182. How does that get determined? Does Dibert challenge Bollman for 170, do they just both agree to switch, or is it a coaches decision? I'd think with Bollman's strong season to date at 170, he might want to stay there for Thomas, Districts, etc.? Just curious. Thanks.

Dibert and Bollman wrestled off. So did Winegardner and Albright. It's why you see the switch.

I wonder if Bollman is certified at 160? He could be a SQ at 160 or 170, but he's probably a little too small to have a long run at 182.

If he certified at 160 he couldn't have went at 182, unless they changed the rule this year, you can't go more than 1 weight above cert.

Eaglealum I'm not familiar with that rule regarding cert. weight at all. As a quick example Claysburg's Josh Brown has wrestled 5 matches @ 126 and is now down at 113.

I believe that Bollman is certified for 160.

182 looks to be pretty difficult weight in SW Region and while most of the top dogs (DesLauriers, Thompson, Fields) might not be in Bedford, Bollman should get a good taste of how he matches up with Beckwith and the rest of the competition in trying to make a trip to Hershey.

In contrast 160 looks like much weaker weight and an easier path for getting to Hershey.

You can re-certify during the season...like I said, they may have changed the rule...I haven't been matside in a few years

the berlin duals' program had the actual weight that the kids weighed in at, and im pretty sure bollman weighed in at or maybe even a tad above 170. that'd be a lot of weight for him to lose to get down to 160.....
